Adam,
my dash from Larry Casey is pretty thick aluminum (.90 I believe). My objective was just to tuck in the ends to where they allow for a full bend and I'm using the ends with fasteners into the frame tubing. I placed a chain link fence post in my vice and by hand bent the end around the fence post. I would recommend using a scrap piece of aluminum or other means to mock it up before bending. Once you make the bend, it's next to impossible to undo and straighten out. Also be sure to make any bends before powdercoating. Hope this helps.
