Just wanted to get an idea of how many of us FFR and other Cobra owners were planning on attending and how many are bringing their Cobras. Also as one of the few local Cobra owners on the Monterey peninsula, i was wondering if anyone would be interested in getting together as a group for dinner, lunch or a cruise. That being Car Week which is the largest gatering of classic cars in the world, I though it might be fun to get together and finally put some faces to the names on the forum and get together for some fun. As i am sure you all know, this is a full week of shows and events, so even if Saturday was not good for people, any day of that week could work. If nothing else, we could all meet at Baja Cantina on Thursday for their car night which is definately over the top during car week. It usually starts filling up about 4:00 pm. and there is no fee to bring and show your car. They have pretty good Mexican food in the restaurant a full bar with every tequila imaginable, an outside full service patio with live music and a dance floor as well as an outside BBQ and picnic tables on the lawn next to where all the classic, muscle cars and hot rods are parked. Also there are a ton of great areas to cruise around here. Around the peninsula along the ocean, down Hwy 1 to Big Sur or out Carmel Valley. All are beautifull with nice windy roads and great scenery. If anyone has other ideas about getting together, please post them. I would be glad to help organize anything people want to do.
Thanks
Mike

I am towing my car down from Portland Oregon. We have family in Palo Alto so we are planning on staying with them and making the two hour drive down and back every day. We are planning on being at various shows between Thursday-Sunday.
Myself, Herman Fong and Jeff Riley have purchased Corral parking for Friday thru Sunday. Saturday the 18th, a large group of BACC members plan to drive down early that morning and drive home that evening. Herman told me that at least 12 BACC Cobras of various types in the Sunnyvale area are headed down Saturday morning , I plan to join the parade.
No plans beyond that right now.

Dave,
Can you post the details of Saturday's run down to the corral? I will be staying with family in Palo Alto and would like to join the group for the drive down.
Will do Greg, we'll probably have a gathering point somewhere in San Jose off of Highway 85, maybe Los Gatos Roasting company just off 880. Then head over 880 to Highway 1 and down the coast. I'll check with Herman as we get closer and post the plan in this section.

Well i did a really stupid thing. I fell off a ladder and broke my arm in two places and shattered part of my wrist bone. So it will be really close as to if my cast is off by car week. I am pretty sure it will be, but either way i will be at the races on Saturday and at Baja Cantina on Thursday evening even if i can not bring my car. If the cast is not off by then i will be co-pilot with a friend from Sacramento in his Cobra, but i REALLY want to bring my car. I just got the carb rebuilt, the oil changed and a tuneup before i broke my arm. So the car and I are both chomping at the bit to get on the road.
For the guy that is staying in Palo Alto, that is a pretty long haul every day. About 1 hour 30 minutes to two hours each way depending on traffic. Definately the longer during the week. You might want to rethink that plan if you can.

Hi Mike,
I'll be at the event on Saturday and have already picked up my tickets and Cobra Corral pass. I would love to go to the Cantina on Thursday but lots of work stuff going on that week so I'm not sure I can make it but will try.

Aw geez...sorry to hear that Mike. It seems between water skiing and mountain biking I was breaking something every 3 years like clockwork....been almost 4 years since my last incident...so maybe at 62 I finally got a little smarter! Was tuning Jeff Rileys car last week and have a huge snakebite on my left shin right now....the fun never stops.
Take it easy, follows the doctors instructions and heal up, work hard on the PT when it's time, makes a huge difference later.

Really sorry to hear about your arm Mike, and the snakebite Dave...Hope you're healing well!
I'll be there with the #28 Coupe in the Corral, and with any luck, we'll have the new Competition Coupe there as well.... Rick and Diane Anderson will be coming along, and Garry Bopp (theboppshop) from Atlanta, GA already has his beautiful (and fast) Coupe out here for the event. Tom Coon (St. Helena) will have his Shelby Coupe continuation car there as well. It's a beautiy too!! We'll all be arriving together mid-week, and will be staying with a group of Coupe owners and the Brocks downtown....First up will be the McCall's event at the Jet Center, and then off to a number of other stops throughout the week.....Looking forward to seeing everyone!!!!

I am driving up Hwy 1, weather permitting and look forward to the weekend. I purchased my corral pass and plan on being there on Friday & Saturday. The Car Show sounds good on Thursday @ 4 but my car might be a bit road worn from the trip north.

We'll be there but without the coupe. Planning to spend a few days in Napa first but not sure on dates yet other than arriving in Monterey on Thursday. Staying at the Enbassy suites in Seaside for Monterey. We are in escrow on our house and should be doing a concurrent close on the tenth. Hoping to move on Sunday the 12th and head to Napa on Monday...... Going to be a busy two weeks.
Wow, Mike, sorry about the busted flipper! Don't rush the healing or rehab and anyway, you can always get a special cast made and tape your hand to the steering wheel, right?
Four weeks to go, it's gonna be close. Got tix and corral passes for Saturday and I hope to be at Baja Cantina parked next to Pop's '53 Lincoln Capri. That event just gets bigger every year and it's probably going to be a total zoo, but I'm really shooting for it.
I'll be driving up my roadster Thursday as well. Should be able to make the gathering. Planning to attend Friday at the corral as well. Looking forward to meeting the NorCal group!

Hey Guys......A few of us are coming down from Thursday to Sunday, and have not had any luck finding a place to stay. Any suggestions would be great. I'm trying to get registered with DMV so I can drive the car around down there. I also have coral passes for the track. I have had a few short cruses around and all I can say is wow, its going to be fun.
Even camping is sold out, let me know if you know of anything.
It's a little too late to find anything now. This is going to be one of the biggest weekends in recent years. We ended up renting a house which was much more cost effective. I would try your luck with VRBO® is Vacation Rentals By Owner. You might also want to just starting dialing hotels to see if they have any cancellations. Otherwise you are A.) Going to be paying $600+ per night or B.) Staying in a hotel 20+ miles from Monterey.

We had no luck in finding a room at a decent rate so we are just making the two hour drive down and back every day from foster city.
Too far to drive the Roadster down, but I am attending the Monterey Historic's event, via motorhome. Booked for three nights camping at the track, in the Grand Prix campground.
I'm not at all familiar with the region, and I'm not sure if I want to be out cruising around in traffic in a motorhome.. I'll be happy just to get to the track, and likely be there until it's all over.
Hope to meet some of you, perhaps down at the Coral. To bad there wasn't a FFcars.com hat, or T-shirt we could wear, so you would know who are forum members..
Diane and I (or my son and I) are planning to be there and have weekend passes. Where do we get the Corral Passes? I'm not parking in the dirt! We will be there on Saturday only.
They are all filled up for Saturday in the corral. Last I heard, they still are available Friday and Sunday. You should contact Orion from Nor Cal Shelby Club. Nor Cal Shelby Club
Ok, looks like we are camping Thursday night to Sunday. This could be fun!!!! I will take the car off the trailer and get to the Cantina ASAP. Maybe you could save me a spot Mike.... I will have the only cobra in primer but I promise it looks good under the hood.... I'm staying right around the corner at the Saddle Mountain Resort Camp Grounds. Looking forward to getting it registered this week and possibly getting a dyno run in before coming down.
Looks like the FFR ranks will be well-represented at the event.
Since it looks like the largest number of us will be at the track on Saturday, and it would be nice for us to connect and meet each other, do we want to set a gathering time at the corral in the morning so we don't miss each other? We'll want to look at the track schedule, but I'm thinking sometime early in the day.

Is a group still planning on meeting Saturday morning in the south bay area to drive down together? Gates open at 7:00 and the 3A group is first on the track at 8:45.
The Monterey event is certainly shaping up to be one of the biggest "must do" events ever, and it's going to be very cool to have such a great representation from the FFR ranks. As we've come to know over the years, Peter and Gayle Brock are wonderful ambassadors for the marque, as well as great friends to the FFR community, and to commemorate this amazing event, Peter and Gayle Brock have graciously agreed for an FFR group photo:

Thanks so much Peter and Gayle!!!
