Karen, that's great! It would be a good chance to meet other FFR owners at that time. Perhaps plan for later meet ups as well at that point, if wanting to make contact somebody in particular, to BS or bend an elbow...

Is the Cobra coral quite large? Any particular spot in it, that we are meeting up? Like under a flag, or under a sign, sort of thing?

I worry I may be aimlessly wondering around this huge area, looking for everyone else..lol

Can anyone tell me what area or parking lot, the coral is shown as on the track facility map? http://www.laguna-seca.com/map-directions/track-maps-0

Good point Bill....I'm sure it will be a madhouse to some degree, so the more we work things out, the better.....

Cobra Corral
The Cobra Corral will be staged in generally the area after Turn 1 (Andretti Hairpin) and along the outside of the track between Turns 2 and 3....Near BBQ Island. Access from the paddock is via the Tire Bridge.

Photo Meeting Location
As I understand it, the Cobra Corral is sold out, and for those with passes, it's first come, first served parking in the Corral. Peter Brock has a group of Coupes that he's gathered for the event, and the "plan" is for us to park together in the Corral (as best possible). The Brocks will be meeting us on Saturday morning wherever my two Coupes are parked. As an FYI (and since there will likely be a lot of "blue coupes"), my cars both carry #28, and one looks pretty much like its got more than 4,000 endurance racing miles (road warrior patina)....

I'll also bring my Factory Five Racing banner and will put it up nearby if possible.

.....Let's get this party started!!

Karen

Well I got the cast off about a week and a half ago. The wrist is still a bit tender, but i am ready and rearing to go for car week.

My plans for being at baja Cantina on Thursday is to get there about 2:30. That is probably a bit early, but this year will likely be busier then usual. The action really does not start until about 4:30 to 5:00. My car is medium blue with white stripes, black pipes and has 5 Japanese flags on the drivers side in front of the door.

My plan is to get to the track on Saturday between 7:30 and 8:00 in the corral. I will try to find you all for the group picture. It is likely to be really hot at the track, so bring lots of water, sun block and a good hat. If anyone has ez-up canopy's, bring them. You will be a lot more comfortable. There is very little shade at the track. I know they don't fit well in a cobra, but if you have a way to get one there it will make your time a whole lot better.

I have never been to the jet center event. Do you need to be invited or are there tickets available? My buddy Ron is coming down from Sacramento on Wednesday and we will be hanging out most of the week. So if any of you all want to get together with us to hang out and do some events, please PM me and i will give you my number and e-mail. I live in Pebble Beach and can clear anyone to get in without having to pay the gate fee. Let me know if that is something anyone has interest in. There are a lot of free displays and exhibits at the lodge starting on friday.

I am available to meet up throughout the entire week, so if anyone is coming in on Monday or Tuesday and wants to get together let me know.

Mike

Mike....I'll have two EZ-ups with me in my trailer....Not sure how tight space will be around the corral, but if we can find a spot, we could set them up and make ourselves a gathering place...I also have 6 or 7 folding chairs, and will have an ice chest.

Hope your wrist gets better and better each day!

That would be great. I am bringing 2 chairs as that is all that will fit in the trunk of the Cobra and my buddy will bring at least one chair. It would be great to have a place out of the sun as there are absolutely no shady areas at laguna Seca. Even though it might be foggy and cold in Monterey, it could be close to 100 at the track. It is inland enough to be clear of the fog and sits in a bowl in the hills, so it tends to get pretty darn hot. Especially in August. Load up on water as there are limited places to buy it as they tend to want to sell soft drinks and beer. If you guys need anything, just let me know and we can get together anytime during the week.

Posted on the other thread as well but I am willing to compile the contact list for the event. If anyone wants to be on the list please send me your email address and cell phone number. Also include your car make and color so people can easily identify you! Thanks

I'm coming down Friday with my 14 year old son and Saturday with my friend and his CSX. We will be in the coral with his car on Saturday. Unfortunately, my car is about half built and won't make it but I look forward to putting more names to faces!

Being in Morgan Hill, it is only a 40 minute drive or me which makes it nice...

Is the FFR owners 8.15am photo shoot with the Brock's still a go?
I understand that the gates to get in to the track can back up quite badly? I wonder if everyone who hopes to be there for the photo shoot will make it in time? The gates only open at 7.30..

I'll be in the Grand Prix campground, site 153, on and off (depending on what's going on on the track), over the weekend, if anyone wants to wander by for a meet up.

The photo shoot is still on....As you might imagine, Peter's schedule is pretty packed for the weekend, so early on Saturday was what would work....We'll be heading out to the track very early that day, and like everyone, will hope for the best....I keep my sleeping bag in the trailer, so I might be "camping out" over there, or I could always curl up in the car. Could be pretty cozy...

We'll plan to stop over at your campsite Bill. Thanks!...Do you know if they allow scooters or quads at the track...I know they do at the regional and track event weekends, but not sure about the bigger events...Sure would make getting around those hills a whole lot easier. Thanks again!

I will be there. Looking forward to putting some faces with the names on here. Since we are flying in from Denver, no car to show off. Will be staying at the infamous Borg Motel in Pacific Grove.

Getting excited. Ralph

South Bay Caravan

Hi Greg,

I will be talking to Herman today to finalize the South Bay caravan on Saturday, could be we just meet at Starbucks near my place since it's close to Highway 880. I will post again later today with "the plan". I know Herman is concerned about the traffic and getting into the facility without a big delay, so we need to be on 880 by 6am or so....early.

Dave

Going to monterey saturday? Please read

SATURDAY AUGUST 18TH
LAGUNA SECA SHELBY TRIBUTE
CARAVAN MEETUP @ LOS GATOS COFFEE ROASTING
6:15 AM

Hello All!
Saturday's caravan to the tribute corral sounds like a blast...it's time to get organized.
I understand there is a group of you from the Pleasanton area that are coming down, but not leaving until 6:45?
Are you aware that the FFR group photo with Peter Brock will take place at 8:15 in the corral? You'll never make that..and will not be arriving in Monterey til maybe 8:30..
I'd like to appeal to you, AND TO ANYONE READING THIS, to consider meeting up with a group of us at Los Gatos Coffee Roasting at 6:15AM...the more the merrier, and we'd love to have any and all NorCal Cobra owners join us..

So, in the efforts of some kind of organizational head count..
PLEASE REPLY TO THIS POST IF YOU WILL BE MEETING UP WITH US FOR THE TRIP..I'll make up a list so we know who we are waiting on..

I was able to find car storage in Salinas for Friday night. We are picking the car up early to head into Leguna. We will meet everyone there bright and early for the 8:15 pic!

JCLipca- Yes BACC has a group meeting/leaving from Pleasanton since most of our group is in the Tri-valley/east bay area. We are reviewing our departure time and most likely will leave much earlier than originally planned.

As for meeting you in Los Gatos that route is not really in our plan, we usually take 680-101-68 which is a bit faster from our area also, getting on and off the highway with a caravan is always a challenge plus for folks in our area to meet you by 6:15 we would have to leave at 5:30.

thanks,
mike

Follow on to JC Lipka message

Hi all,

Gary it looks like you are on your own for Saturday am now, so that only leaves 4 of us driving down from the South Bay area taking 880 to highway 1. We'll see you at the Track.!

John Lipka
Herman Hong
Jeff Riley
Me- Dave Albertalli

We will be at Los Gatos Roasting at 6:05 am, they open at 6:00. We will be leaving at 6:15 sharp, Herman is encouraging us to beat the rush and come in the South entry road, not off 68. The gates open at 7am, Herman called yesterday.

So that's the plan, if you want to caravan with us let John or I know and we'll wait for you at Los Gatos Coffee...if you're not too late.

Drive safe!

Dave

Dave, I've never been to Los Gatos Roasting Co. so I looked it up and it appears to be on 101 West Main St., correct?

Correct Herman! Why don't you and Jeff meet me at my house at 5:50 and we'll head down to Los Gatos together to pick up John and anyone else that wants to go with us.

Dave, that's a go. 5:50 at your place.

Russ, Karen: both of you need to park together if you can so I can get a pic of both your cars at the same time!
