Sources for graded fasteners, open on weekend?

Guys,

Where do you get your graded fasteners (Grade 5, Grade 8, etc.) locally that is open on the weekend?

I'm a bit leery of getting them from Orchard Supply or Home Depot as there is a ton of counterfeit stuff on the market. Fastenal is not open on the weekend.

So, where do you go locally on the weekend? I'm in the East Bay....

Thanks,

Mike

Do you have an Ace hardware? That's where I gets all mine. Hillman stocks all their fasteners.

Home Depot

I do not think there is an issue with using hardware from Home Depot so long as it has the proper rating stamp and is the correct size. I have access to a fastenal but I still need to wait for them to get the hardware in. They have a good stock but not alway what you need.

Fastenal has hardware made for them and is stamped FNL along with the grade stamp. I am pretty sure they do not have different standards than other hardware manufacturers.

I would not be surprised if they came from the same factory. Even then, the bolts may differ from batch to batch.

Comes down to lowest bidder in my opinion.

Dales Hardware in Fremont

I order stuff from Mcmaster Carr all the time or Olanders in Sunnyvale has walk in service M-F, but not weekends. Dales is a shining star among hardware stores in the East Bay area, well stocked, well organized...I have bought bolts there for work and home the last 10 years and I've had no problems with the quality. They also carry Taps and Dies of high quality, grinding and cutting tools, metal, wire and fittings....huge selection.

A bit of a drive for you down 680 through Niles Canyon though, probably 50 minutes on a weekend.

Dave

Pep Boys

Believe it or not I found the Pep Boys actually has a modest set of graded SAE and Metric HW. Selection is hit or miss, as they don't stock a ton, and it tends to get mixed as people put things back in the wrong bin. I got several metric sizes that worked well. Though no luck this weekend on the 3.25" long 7/16's grade 8 I was looking for.

Good luck.

Sorry to "Hi-jack" the thread to SoCal, but Chris, if you're in HB, do you know about Hillco Fasteners? They're on Western, just north of Garden Grove blvd, they have REALLY good prices on Grade 8, and very wide selection, and they're open on Saturdays until 2. Tell em' Derrick from DVCustoms sent ya!!

Thumbs up Hilco

Yep - I was there yesterday!
They are about 2 ,miles from my office, but about 15 miles from my house, while there is a pep boys about 3 miles from my house.
I will swing by pep boys on the weekend if I need something "just in case" they carry it.

Thanks though!

Small world

Funny - I was there about 11:50. Only took me about 5 minutes, as I was picking up 2 #8 7/16" X 3.5", plus a bag of cut washers and nylock nuts.

Talking with the guy at the counter about what I need them for. Told him an FFR Roadster, now he wants to see pictures!
Take care

The guys at Hilco are really cool about car hardware. They had a vendor booth up at the last Chrysler event I went to.

I ended up going to Vic Hubbard's over in Hayward. They've been around awhile and I was able to get some ARP fasteners on the weekend!
