Where'd you buy your foldable engine hoist?

I'm looking to purchase a foldable engine hoist that isn't a piece of junk.

There are few options on craigslist and getting something via the Internet will result in shipping costs that are almost as much as the lift itself.

Where did you get yours (in NorCal)?

Thanks,

Mike

Cummins, Harbor Freight, etc. Heck, every auto parts store I got into (the big chains, like Advance Auto Parts, NAPA, O'reilley, etc), all have them right inside the door for $150 -$200.

I got mine at a local Cummins. Essentially just like Harbor Freight. Not sure about the "piece of junk" comment...it either lifts an engine, or it doesn't. There's not much to them. Even the smallest-capacity hoist has a lift rating of 2000 lbs, and even if it has a safety factor of 2-to-1 (and it's probably like 7-to-1), it'll have no problem lifting a 600lb engine assembly.

Great point!

I used this in conjunction with a load leveler to move my engine around during my build. Worked fine:

HF has a 2 ton folding hoist for around $200 or so and when it goes on sale plus the 20% coupon it is hard to beat.

They currently have their 2 ton non folding on sale now plus they have the 20% coupon right now too!

If you want to get coupons from HF you can sign up for them on their website.

I got mine at Sams Club plus an engine stand... It is blue and yellow and it has stickers saying Goodyear Racing.. Forgot what I paid for it but it is really HD. It folds up to about a 36x30 foot print when folded..

Sam's Club doesn't have the Goodyear one available anymore and Costco doesn't carry anything. I was trying to stay away from Harbor Freight.

I got mine at Pep Boys. I think it was about $150 after rebate.
