#cobranimal

Hi guys, I'm new to this forum (actually first ever forum) so a little new to this.
I'm building a Factory5 Cobra kit but with a few large twists. In a nut shell, I'm heavily modifying the chassis and drive line to accomodate huge horsepower and bigger wheels. That is a 540ci 720+hp Scott Shafiroff Race Engines big block, a T5, Fab9 rear, C6 brakes all round and custom pin drive 20x15 (rear) wheels for what should be a "Pro-Tour" look.
I'm building the car in the USA with the intention of bringing it back to Australia (I just moved home after a few years in the US, Cali).
I'm after some help with the Ozzy regulations so as to get it right the first time, would appreciate ANY help I can get from you knowledgable lot.
Many thanks
Lex

Hmmm, Maybe you have something more you need to tell us Lex

Forum member PROFAB (Earl Mitchell) posted the exact same photo in an update on his build way back in 2007:

So what's the story?

Cobranimal is the new owner of that same uncompleted car. I believe that picture is just one he had, that Profab originally posted.
I rec'd this private message from him awhile back, when he first joined the forum and we were messaging back and forth about forum posting rules.

I just purchased a half build FF roadster with a 540 cuber and high structural mods and plan to finish it. It is evident in the below string from years ago, though your members would want to hear it's back on the hoist and ready to see the light of day.
I have no posts, so am unable to reply to this thread

He may have goofed on that part of his post, as Profab's original post from back when, mentioned it was a TKO600..

Yes, and looking closely at the pic, it is a TKO. With a midshift conversion.

Hi Jeff,
I purchased this off Earl over a year ago and have been planning the build since. I've made some inroads and have a new builder in control of the process now.
The photo is an old one of Earl's. I tried replying to that string so as to update everyone but it wouldn't let me jump into string as a new user. The car has changed quite a bit since that shot also.

Cool! Glad to see it coming to completion. We'd love to see some current photos when you get a chance.

Cheers,
Jeff

Will do guys,
Body is in the shop getting cleaned up and the rear flares pumped slightly. We're re-doing the 3 link in the rear to firm it up some more and adding a better fuel cell for safety reasons.
We're converting the current wheels to a 6 pin system with knock off, will look race correct, just a lot beefier! I wanted to reduce the diameter of the wheel somewhat but the brake system is huge.
Can anybody connec ting with Australians whom are familiar with local laws, particularly in NSW?
Thanks
Lex

Lex,
Welcome to the forum.
Apparently the Aussie govt makes it hard and really hard in some places.
I've got a buddy in Albany WA but I think the regs are quite different there.
I can put you in touch with him though, he will likely know someone in NSW who can help out.

One of those regions recently changed rules to make it nearly impossible, hope it wasn't NSW.

John

I wondered who bought that car and figured it would probably never get finished. Glad to hear I was wrong and you're going to make the necessary modifications to get it done. Keep us posted.

Thanks so much John,
I'd appreciate the intro.
Thankfully not NSW but nothing is easy in Oz. Where there is a will there is a way however and I'm up for the challenge! I'd just like to get as much nailed in the build rather than back tracking later on importing.
Thanks again
Lex
