New Guy from California

After way too many years of lurking on the site, I was finally able to put together the cash to order my kit. It'll be a base kit, but I'll be using a 289FIA body. Don't have all the details worked out, and I'm going to try not to let you all spend more of my money! Looking forward to receiving the kit and getting this build started.

Order is already placed. Production date is 10/20. Trying to get the garage in order, and sourcing some parts prior to receiving the kit. My plan is to get the garage floor polished, and dye stained, with a C*bra logo, before I receive the kit. Work was really slow until I placed the order, and now everyone wants me to do something. It's like when you plan a vacation, everything else wants to schedule during that time. Oh, and like you didn't already know, "EZ$" is sarcastic moniker!

Congrats! Where are you getting the 289 FIA body from? Did you go with body delete from FFR?

2Fast, I purchased a CSX7000 body that was available locally. I will probably go with the body delete, unless I find someone out here that is looking for a Mk4 body.
RichA, It's early, I kind of have a budget, we'll see....

Please let me know if FFR will give a credit for not ordering a body. My intention is to build a 289 FIA on a FFR frame too.

Welcome to the madness...
Be careful about spending money comments here. Many look at spending other peoples money as a challange.

hummm ... Could a MK4 body, be put on a MK3 frame?
Well I'm sure it can be done, there is so many ingenious guys here, but could it be done "very" easily (as the original) or will it be a nightmare of adjustments and mods?

Thanks for the welcome guys.
2Fast4U, I'm sorry I didn't repond earlier regarding your question. I have been offered a credit, but if I thought that someone might want to buy it from me, and were in the area, I'd get the kit with the body. I'd have to find out before the production date, soooo... if anyone in, or around Calif. wants a Mk4 body...
I will tell you, having the body already, without a frame to put it on is killing me.

Cool Congrats and Welcome..

I've found FFR to be pretty flexible and reasonable..and the fact that you are "coloring outside the box" might work to your advantage. Consider offering them a documentation of the processes required to complete a project like yours..and perhaps it will grease the wheels, so to speak.
I knew nothing when I got started, but thanks to some really knowledgeable NorCal builders, SJDave and 289FIA_Cobra in particular, I'm a semi-confident builder now.
This forum is a godsend..use it as much as you can..
Look forward to coming up and watching your project take shape, so stay in touch!
John

Thanks John, I'll keep that in mind. I do know that I am the worst at remembering to take pictures at the right times. You'd think as a contractor that I would remember to take before and after pictures of my projects, but even after 37 years, I still forget. I look forward to meeting other owners.

Can you PM me with the amount of the credit?

Cool, a local guy! I'm in Brentwood and in the planning phase right now. This forum makes me want to abandon the planning and just start ordering.

Hopefully I'll see you around.
