It has been brought to my attention that my motor is sitting unlevel. It is off my almost an inch (on its sides). Anyone have any experience with this? What kind of problems wiill this create?

Thanks,

Preston

Make sure the pins are in the holes on the frame for the motor mounts. If one of these don't seat, the engine will be un level side to side.

One of the more immediate problems that I can think of will be that your side pipes might be waay off. Pete

Sidepipe alignment is more important. If you have FFR headers and you like the way the pipes fit, try not to think about the engine. If you don't have your body on yet, don't worry about the engine until you adjust the pipes.

Yup: I didnt find that out untill I mounted both side pipes.. The motor is just sitting in the mount and the bolts just started (didnt want to lose them). So I giggled the motor so both sides are equal . I think the tranny looks more off then the motor does It sort of leans to the driver side... I guess that is the fine tuning you go through....steve

I had the aluminum 'ear' on the transmission hitting on the E-brake bracket. It has been removed (the ear). You also get an indication on how the motor sets by the way the transmission mount is parallel with the ground.

Aligning the sidepipes is what brought it to our attention. They're significantly off. Your comments and suggestions are welcomed.

You have to be more specific than "significantly off". What exactly do you mean?

From the body shop:

Drivers chassis.. 6.5 inches at the bottom

drivers header 13.75 inches at the top flange

passenger header 13.00 inches at the top flange

passenger chassis 6.5 inches at the bottom bar

Thanks

So you need to roll the engine a smidgen in the mounts. Really easier than it sounds, since there's alot of slop around the locator dowels and bolt holes on the mount pads. You need 3/8" (half of 3/4") to make the pipes perfect, and that's maybe 1 or 2 degrees of engine rotation. You're close, just loosen up the 2 bolts on the mount pads and use a bar.

Joe,,, Great idea. I think in this case it's a little of both. headers may be bent a little wrong and motor may need to be tweaked just a little. I'm sure we can get 3/8" in there somewhere.

The other thing you can do if you need just a touch more movement is to put a couple of washers between the engine block and motor mounts.
