For the last week I've put down a panel a day of either insulation or carpet or both. I'm down to just one main carpet section: driver/passenger side tranny panels with verticle tunnel bridging both pieces (under the dash).

What I have left after that are the under sides of the doors. I did not align the aluminum under the doors when I had the body on but given that SRP will mount and align the body on the chassis soon, I suspect I must wait until the body is on so I can align the aluminum and rivet it down before I can carpet over it. Is that correct or should I rivet it down now???

Hold off on the under door aluminum until you have the body on. Leave that piece of carpet off also.

I am a little lost. On the MK III the v-shaped panel under the door follows the contour of the side impact brace. Since you can't adjust the brace because it's part of the frame, what are you aligning. If the aluminum follows the bracing then it should fit and can't be adjusted. I must be missing something. Help me out, I don't understand.

Thanks

Low Country,

There's another piece that lies horizontally on top of the piece your talking about. It gets a weatherstripping on on the outside edge and seals against the body. hth

We're at the same stage, with the body going on this weekend (final assembly). Does anyone have a pic of this installation ?

Here is a link to a photo of mine. I didn't like the FFR piece so I made one (two pieces actually).

FFR now sells and includes the underdoor aluminum that Jay Bird has pictured in his link. They started doing this on 1/1/06, I believe. My kit came with the flat section that was supposed to recieve bulb seal. I ended up calling FFR and purchasing the new/revised underdoor aluminum, more than worth the money and really finishes of that area. It also worked with the supplied carpet.

Yes, thanks for the answer. Actually, I received the under car aluminum on the MKIII from my October/November order last year so these pieces were available in late 2005.

Yesterday, I installed the machine screws for both the shifter trim and handbrake trim. With the driver seat installed, I'm tempted for another clandestine go-kart run today!!!!

Gotta get a hold of Ken Pike to see what the progress report is on my body. If he's on schedule, my car should be in the booth right about now...
