After a few days of sanding and polishing I am about finished. I went 1500/3000/4000/Norton Liquid Ice on a foam pad/then on a finer foam pad. My question is should there be a final something put on by hand to protect the paint? My clear is HOK UFC-35 and it is about 6 weeks old.

Before cut and buff:

Thanks Bobby.

Great question! No expert here; my guy said just keep it polished...no wax. Wax will build up! What's the real story? I have base-clearcoat. Walt

If you want, you can use a hand glaze now that you're done with all the polishing. I've used the 3M imperial hand glaze. It gives it that wet look and will also fill in some fine polishing scratches. I can get you the part num if you need it. Then wait about 30 days before waxing if you are going to wax. It should be fully cured by then and can be waxed. There's definitely a lot of debate about using wax.

Did you sand the clearcoat or just buff it?
I got some Meguiars Show Car Glaze for the final treatment, but I'll probably use some wax after it ages a few months.

Mike,

I sanded 1500 grit then 3000 and then 4000 with a 3/32" stroke flat DA. Then Buffed with a 7" air polisher.

I'll check into the show car glaze.
