Can anyone list the number and location of all the freeze plugs in a 302. I may have some "extra" plugs in my kit I don't need. Thanks.

3 on both sides of block 6 total. If you have stock heads 2 per head front and back 4 total.
That is water jacket plugs. Their are three oil galley plugs behind timing chain cover. And a plug under intake manifold at back top of block for the oil galley crossover. Oh, and the large camshaft plug under rear block plate behind flywheel.I think that covers it.

Reading in some books they say that they may leak oil, so to tap tread and install pipe fitting. I did this and I was not fun. I hope I will not have trouble, the fittings are tight with sealant. The ones in the back are stock treaded and pluged. Just some info for you... Also, I installed brass plugs and do they dress up the engine.

Brass freeze plugs won't rot over time, unlike regular freeze plugs. They cost a little more, but are certainly worth it.

The "freeze plug" kit I got also included the 2" camshaft cover out back next to the 3 oil galley fittings. Hopefully you have that as well.

Yes, the kit I got from Summit came with the 6 brass plugs for the sides, the large rear plug for the cam, the 3 threaded plugs for the rear, the 1" for the top/rear and 3 1/2" plugs, I now think might be under the timing chain cover as suggested above.
