How to remove bug splatter from paint.

Any one know what is best for removing bug guts from painted bumpers? Previous topic only mentioned tree sap.

If it's still kinda fresh, like only a few days old. I just use meg's spray detailer.
Spray it on and wait a minute till soft, they wipe the bug guts away.
does'nt work use the same medthod as mentioned for tree sap.
Always start with the least aggressive cleaners first.

I've tried most everything short of sandpaper. I'll try the WD-40 trick and then rubbing alcohol. Any thoughts on using gasoline, laquer thinner, or acetone?

Gasoline, laquier thinner are not a good option on paint. Acetone will REMOVE PAINT!! it's the main chemical in finger nail polish remover. I would stick with OTC products to do the job.

S-100 available at harley dealers. I use it on bikes and now my cars. spray it on and wash them right off. its amazing stuff, ment as a whole bike wash but really works well on the bugs and road grime.

Safest thing to use is MINERAL spirits and works very well.

I've used Turtle Bug & Tar remover for years.
No problem with Clear coat or Paint !

I've had good success with using a towel soaked in real hot water an then placed on the stuff to be removed. Hold it there for about 3-4 minutes. Most. if not all, should come off. If not, repeat

fabric softener sheets & warm soapy water. It's ruff enought to get the bug guts off, but soft enought NOT to scratch the paint.

it does, but it works. I live in Louisiana where the "lovebugs" attack our paint jobs twice a year. I also work at a dealership & its the cheapest, easiest, and reliable fix I know of.
