Fuel pump wiring

I just finished (almost) replacing my wiring harness with a dieted harness. When I tried cranking it over it just clicked at the coil but the fuel pump came on while in the start position. I remembered an old wire going from the ignition switch to the starter solenoid. I relaced it and was able to crank the engine but the fuel pump doesn't come on now. When I was replacing the old wire I connected it to the wrong terminal on the ignition switch. Could that have messed something up or is the wire I added to the solenoid bypassing the fuel pump? Any help would be appreciated!!!

Electronics plays a very important role in today's vehicles that are getting more and more advanced electronically and hence any work being done on them does need a very good knowledge about all the systems as they do tend to be inter linked and mistake in one part may lead to trouble in some other part.

Assuming you have Mustang EFI, the computer controls the fuel pump. Make sure the computer power is connected to the "IGN" terminal, not the "START/CRANK" terminal or the "ACC" terminal. When you turn the ignition on (not crank), you should hear the fuel pump run a couple seconds then shut off.
