Post F5 Halibrand Replica Wheels mounting issue

Wanted to let people know there is a mounting issue when using Fox spindles, Lincoln 5 lug rotors and the F5 17" x 9" Vintage Halibrand Replica Wheels.
F5 knows of this issue.

When mounting the 17" x 9" Vintage Halibrand Replica Wheels with Fox spindles, Lincoln 5 lug rotors and lug nut cover hardware the wheel sits approximately 3/8"-1/4" from the rotor mounting face when using the non machined wheel (pictured below).

To try and fix this, the manufacture has machined the centerbore deeper (more towards the outside), but this may still not help some people (pictured below).

I have had both wheels (machined and non machined) and still was not able to get either of them to mount correctly without some work.
For me, to mount the machined wheel I would have to use a 1/8" wheel spacer, but with this combination the thread adapter would stick out farther compared to the rear wheel. I did not go with this option.

To mount the non machined wheel I would have to use a 1/4" spacer and change the studs on the rotor so there would be enough thread engagement.
I did not go with this option either.

Instead I use a 5mm spacer (could of used a 1/8" spacer) with the non machined wheel and machine the thread adapter to clear the wheel bearing dust cap (example below) to get the wheel to mount correctly and the thread adapter to be at the correct orientation matching the rear wheel.

Hope this helps someone with their build.

UGGGGHHH! Wish I had seen this post before I did my SSBC 5-lug conversion kit and mounted my new F5 17' Halibrand wheels. When I tightened down my front wheels, both spinner hubs cracked. I didn't even see or hear the cracks until I went to hand-tighten the spinners on. Then I found this post!!

I called F5, and they said they don't warranty the hubs when non-F5 conversions/rotors are used. So.....After some back and forth, I had to buy two new hubs. Now I have to address the machining of the new hubs to make them fit.

I love it when a 5 minute job (putting the new wheels on) turns into a whole new project!

Well, my new hubs arrived already, and they are slightly different from the busted ones. The base is about 1/16 inch shallower, but there is still interference from the grease cap. Dropped new ones off at machine shop today for the counter bore depicted in the photos. We'll see......
