CA SB100 Number 312/500

Just letting everyone know there are plenty of SB100s left for the year. I got mine today and the DMV lady said there are 188 left for the year. No worries if you are a late bloomer like me!

The only issue I had was that they would only give me a one day pass to get my brake light check before giving me the 90 day temp registration. No biggie. I get to fill in the date on the paperwork so I can pick when I want to do it.

P.S. the DMV was clueless so do yourself a favor and RESEARCH first on your own.. You only want to do this once.

You are absolutely right...the people at the DMV are absolutely clueless. And they are government workers so have no incentive to actually help you out. I wasn't required to do the brake light check...

Make sure you install a backup light!!! I hear SOME inspectors will require that.

I'm planning on calling the shop first to see if the backup light will be needed. Thanks for the heads up.

The lady I dealt with was very nice, she just didn't have any experience with it. Hopefully the next one will know a bit more about the process.

Ok, brake light inspection done. I got dinged for not having a third center brake light. Had to temp install one of those too. No problem, now that's done. At the DMV now getting my temporary plates then I suppose it's time to teach the wife to drive a stick! Woot!

Well, I made it! Plates are installed. CHP was no issue, easy in and out. No appointment necessary in Ventura so I got it done quick. After that was the BAR. He didn't like my PCV setup so I had to make a quick run to autozone and rearrange it. Just for clarification you need a PCV in one valve cover going to manifold vacuum and a breather cap (no holes in the bottom) in the other valvecover that connects to the air cleaner baseplate. Incidentally they checked my emissions. He said it was about the same as 100 cars combined. I asked if that meant its 100 times cooler, and I think he agreed it was.

After that I made the final DMV trip and got my plates! No more illegal trips arou d the block for this guy!!
