All:
First, although this area is called "Other Cars", technically, it's not real but the "art" is so detailed and well done, I had to share this with everyone. The only way to describe this is 'amazing'.
I typically install AutoDesk Maya onto our Windows 7 workstations at work and during the installation of the application, I usually just leave my desk for coffee, however, in the latest release of Maya (2012), one artist's work was being displayed - it was a full render of a GT-40 in Gulf livery by an artist called Luis Nieves.
What's more, he's done it inside and out. This things looks spectacular from the cockpit, to the engine bay, to all doors opened... spectacular... I don't even think that's the proper word for it. You just have to see it to believe it so here's the site:
He is a fabulous artist... When he first showed up on the GT40s.com website, I purchased a print from him. Unfortunatly, the post offices between here and there managled to mangle the shipping tube and detroyed the print...

if anyone is interested in creating images like this without spending $3000.00 price tag for Maya, There is a free program that will do similar work. it is called Blender. you can download it from Blender.org
BigFoot - didn't know he was on that forum before. I just stumbled upon it this year. I posted (re-posted I guess) over there.
I did get a chance to email him and he replied back.
Luis is currently in Santa Monica, CA. He was passed up by my company (Dreamworks Animation) which is our loss. I would have hired him just on this project alone.
If you like this, you will love his next project: WWII Mitusbishi fighter plane. Intial work was already done on the radial engine and I suspect it will be just as amazing as the GT-40 project when he's completed the project.
