Bugatti Type 35 scratch build
Over the past two years, a buddy of mine has been scratch building a replica of a Bugatti Type 35. He has been able to take measurements from different original cars and with some good old fashion ingenuity, built what you see here. The complete drive-train has been donated by an 1980 Alfa Romeo Velocespider, just about everything else fabricated/modified in his shop.



Really beginning to take shape, Craftsman at work "fitting" the hood to the buck.



2000 Alfa Romeo engine, European intake for Webers Carburetors



Transmission's new home



Narrowed Alfa rear-end joined to Ford F-1 axle ends and backing plates



Tape on floor is from original layout of the build



Shaping hood panel on English Wheel

Very true, but having a mill, lathe, E-wheel, louver punch, etc., etc. don't hurt either.

It's true that I, or you, or whoever, could do little without the proper tools, but the tools do not make the parts. The operators of the tools do.

I just added another person to the list for my retirement neighborhood. I want to build a giant warehouse with a mall sized living complex above the worlds biggest shop. He needs to be there. Just need to win the lotto. Keep updates coming how about some back issues as well.

Any info on those tires? Maybe motorcycle tires that have been regrooved? I've never seen a tire quite like those...

Spectacular craftsmanship! Do you know if he will pull fiberglass molds from the completed body in order to replicate at a pricepoint below that of hammered aluminum?
