Update: Syrcuse Nationals

Guys,

We took the Bugatti Type 35 replica to the Syracuse Nationals to display my buddy's handywork. Hot Rod builder Dave Tucci gratuitously gave us space in his booth and allowed us to be part of his "Crew". One of the best times I ever had at an automotive event. Syrcuse Nationals attracts over 8,000 cars and 80,000 spectators, just a huge event!

Other photos of the event
https://plus.google.com/photos/11210...89578596006097

Hanging out in Dave Tucci's '27 Track T creation

Hard at "work"

We had some photos taken by a professional photographer with incredible results!

That is amazing.

Love the black & white photo, works really well with that era of car.

Just the other day a friend of mine showed me a picture of his replica 35 Bugatt, which looks like the same model as your friend built. Apparently some fellow was selling a kit for them, several years back, that used a VW bug as a donor car. He hopes to have it on the road by fall.

I never even heard of these before, and now I see two, just within a small time frame..

Update...(Sorry for the delay)

Final assembly has begun! The Bugatti has been stripped down to the bare chassis and all final paint and polish applied.

More to come

Now he just needs to machine his own straight 8.

Front suspension is back on and finalized

After much work and detail, the front suspension is complete!

Here are some specs: Early Ford spindles/king pins, 40's Ford F1 brakes, custom sized Dayton wire wheels/knockoffs, Blockley reproduction tyres, period friction shocks, and Bugatti reproduction springs.

Front axle, frame, spring hangers, and steering arms are all hand fabricated in the shop.

Nice.

Any more details on the friction shocks? I've never seen those before.

Thanks,

Best of my knowledge, they are "Hartfords", removed from an original Bugatti. My buddy purchased them from a well known Bugatti restorer in New Hampshire.
