JEff, you said it, like door handles, trim pieces, etc. All tedious but necessary. Hope to get more done on Friday, will post progress pics then..................hopefully LOL.

Have a good week everybody....Ryan

Update

Well since everyone else is posting some updates i will too. I dont like to update with out pics, lol. I was too busy to stop for pics...but...

So I ended up taking the tailgate off for a repaint. I was planning on just giving the painter the car but decided I could get her almost completely done by the time the gate came back, plus the car always gets so dusty at the painters. So I had to take off the skin, take out the motor and all the adjustments made on the glass UGHHH

I also set the carpet in for final install, it had been laying in the floor but not secured. I spray glued the rear only. the front had been placed but I screwed in the corners with a flat head screw. Its an old trick and practically buries the screw, a bit of red paint on the head if and when necessary.

I also started to cover the rear wheel wells with the red vinyl, pretty tough to get on without a wrinkle, I only got one side partially on as it needs to dry before I can stretch the rest on. I will however have a seam but I have an idea for that too. Seat belts will be here on Monday. Front dash (dual coil) front speaker came in, but radio (custom Auto sound) is still a ways off .

I need to get the seat belt eye bolts powder coated....I am sure there are other things but this is boring with no pics, I will try to get more pics this week.

Ryan

Thanks for the update. You are getting lots of little stuff done. That's the time consuming part. I know what you mean a post just doesn't seem right without pictures.

pics pics pics

well I went to pick up the tail gate today, needless to say it wasn't up to snuff there was a mis-communication between the painter and his employee...........and me. No big deal it will get done. He also painted some interior parts over again for me and they were not dry when I went over.......so I did other stuff. Here are some pics n descriptions, not all necessarily done yesterday and today but all since I have been back from Mexico..

These are the seat bolt retainers, Old school, and the small piece in the middle is the cover for the green dot gear indicator on the column

I covered the spare tire cover in vinyl to match the interior... here it is laid in place. I also attempted to cover the wheel humps in vinyl today, this is how they came in the 404, I had to do them in 3 pieces to keep out the wrinkles, I am going to have the interior guy sew some fake stitches onto the (seams) and glue in the third pieces next week

I made this piece from fiber board and cover it in vinyl, it is not supposed to round the corner towards the tailgate but I have not located that piece yet so until then this will have to do, I almost like it better than the metal piece that is supposed to go in the corner, LOL

Here is a view of both wheel humps and the carpeted mat in the cargo area and NO TAILGATE, ;-(

The sunvisors installed

Dash pad as it is laid down before the trim

And after the trim is installed and everything is in place, I HAVE TO SAY I LOVE THIS OLD CRAP IT IS REALLY COOL, when it goes together good, lol

And a view of the windlace finally laid in its correct place with all the metal trim pieces holding it where it really is supposed to go, and the door handles and arm rests installed

Well thats it for now hopefully the tailgate will be done next week as well as the interior pieces so I can finally drop the seats in, have a great weekend and pray for the rain to go away we are supposed to go to NASCAR on sunday ;-) Ryan

No pics

Not much of an update this week, nothin really cool to look at this week, I completed my PCV valve hoses to the back of the carb, re installed the tailgate and the tailgate window, installed the up down switch on the dash, installed the front running bulbs and clear lenses, installed the license plate light and..................I cant remember what else just not too exciting this week.

Oh ............I decided to add frame connectors from Global West before she hits the road so that will be next week. Also I discovered that I have the rear emergency brake cables on the wrong sides, the only real reason this matters is because the U shaped connector hits the drive shaft when flipped over the wrong way, I will take a pic next week before and after I switch the cables.

May take a while before I can get the frame connectors on as I have to grind off the rails where I have put POR 15, lol.

I hope to have her on the road soon for a shake down cruise, my non operation permit runs out on April 24th, so I will register her for the street on April 25th and then the first car show is scheduled for the first weekend of May, cross your fingers, LOL

Will post pics next week.

Friday friday friday

Well we got the frame connectors welded on and took Kathy for her first "Drive" today. There was a storm on the horizon so I just took her around the building, plus I dont have registration.

After or while I took her around the first time, It was obvious the trans was low on fluid and when i got on it a little the fan hit the shroud, so I go those two things fixed and took her around again.

I have a little squeak and I am not sure if it is the belt or the powerstering pump or the alternator pulley, lol. I was so excited just to get her movin' I couldnt concentrate, I will figure out what it is next week. Her is a short video for your enjoyment .

Not sure I can get it to work this is the first time posting a vid.

Short day

Didnt get a lot of time with Kathy today, had a lot goin on. Bought the wife a new car and had to get that to her, LOL

Anyways she is almost done just a few odds and ends that i worked on taoday, she is getting an alignment on Friday then we will hit the highway to see how she does on a little road trip.

I put on the tail panel trim and installed the factory radio, for looks I did not hook it up. THe tail panel would not hold the paint I painted it with I may have to have it powder coated, bummer.

And I added the Comet script.

Radio

Tail Panel

You can see where the squares are peelin, super bummer

Have a great weekend

The car looks GREAT. I hope I can find the time to see it some time. You do great work. Did you decide on the trim rings for the wheels?

Home

Well I took Kathy home today, it was her longest trip yet about 25 to 30 miles. I brought her home to get her windows tinted before her show debut on Saturday.

The only real issue was the gas tank vent or lack there of. When I opened the gas cap there was a huge sucking sound. I am not sure how the 1964 gas tanks were vented but I think they were on top near the sending unit. I suspect the vent may have been covered or sealed when the gas tank was resealed?

I am going to try to figure out how to make another vent on Friday? Anyone have any ideas. ??

I will post a pic after the windows are done!!

Could you just drill a small hole in the cap? Unless the car is inverted I wouldn't imagine you would have any spillage

Got the tint on today, just need to vent the tank and see if there is anything I can do about the steering besides replacing the box? Then off to the show either Friday night cruise and or the Saturday show n shine!!!!

Had a great day at the Riverside Show and go cruise Friday night until about 830. Then went home and went to bed......kind of.....Got up at 230 to leave by 3 to get back to the show as there were 1000 cars this year and I knew where I wanted to park...........in the shade. It was a great weekend. When some one posts a link to pics of the show I will put it out.

Here we are at the "cruise" portion of the three day show.

Ryan,

Congratulations you made it. Your goal was to make this show and you did it. The car looks great. It was nice seeing you at the FFR show. Did you just cut the one coil out of the front springs or did you do the re-drill A arm drop too?

Pro Street

Next is some type of Pro Street, I may actually start building a motor for the car before I even have a car, Maybe a ford 514, I gave the 460 away that I got for free (with the Galaxie) but I will prob scoop up another and start the process.

Looking for a 1968 Mustang Coupe, or a 1964 Comet Coupe (Post) car, like this if It was closer it would already be in my driveway.
1964 Mercury Comet

Basket cases are OK to some extent cuz I am going to chop it for big meats in the rear.
A buddy actually has a 66 Mustang Coupe done, needs paint, but he want too much right now, Stay TUned LOL
