Is there something special going on here, or have I just not seen enough 347 motors in my research? most folks seem to advertise 347 EFI as ~420hp. 503hp seems like quite a jump.
inflated numbers, high quality, reduced life, magic badgers?
i prefer to see a bit more torque with HP being a close 2nd
the heads and cam probably
edlebrock is poken more on SBF now i see

That peek HP is over the 5250 RPM range. I would like to see what the torque numbers are in the 3800 RPM to 4800 RPM range. As to the price you have to take into consideration that it does include EFI.

Edelbrock does not have a dyno graph uploaded for this engine yet, but the secret appears to be in the combo of the pump friendly 9.9:1 comp, hydraulic roller cam, CNC ported heads and the unique for a SBF XT intake manifold;
Hi,
They are sacrificing some low end for big #'s, the cam will be 3500 to 7000 so you'll have to have some steep gears. 10* less duration would make it more street friendly.

they must be running the motor to 7000 to get those HP numbers with 10 to 1 CR. That would be great for the track. Sucks for a street car. You would need a close ratio box and fairly low rear gears, 3:73s. The torque seems really high for a 347. I have low 400's in torque. torque is cubic is inches and compression ratio, mathematically doesn't make sense to me.

thanks for the comparison! do you have a chart? or at least, can you describe what the chart looks like, and perhaps some details about your gear ratios/driving characteristics?
Everyone had the right idea, it hits 503hp right at (redline)6500 RPM, and the first part of the torque curve is kinda low. Peak torque at 5000RPM. I'll steer away from those cams, but good to see that this setup can breathe well enough.
You can make lots of power with the right combo. You do pay for it down low, but I launch at ~3000 anyway. Here are a couple of articles that show great #'s from sbf's 527 HP 347 ci AFR 185 cc 535 HP 331ci AFR 185cc
