Crank Question

If you could choose between a crank with 6 or 8 countrweights, all other specifications being the same, which would you chose and why?

I need to make a decision. This motor will be a high rpm motor.

6, Because it will be lighter. In a high rev engine everything must be light. We have even taken the cranks a cut the counter weight to make them even lighter.
I know you talked about a multi-disc clutch for that engine. I would like to make a recommendation, if you plan in driving it on the street at all that clutch will make it almost impossible. I have tried it.
You may want to concider my lightweight clutch and flywheel assy. Depending on the disc used, it will handle all the power you want and still be street drivable.

Gordon, thanks for the input. I already own the Tilton magnesium bellhouosing, hydraulic TO, Billet flyweel, and a 7.25" tripple disk set-up.

If I drive it on the street, it will be to a local car-show or out in the country (on rare occasion). I think I'll be OK, I am really building it to race. I am buying a used BMW M3 for my commuter car (and to auto-X with while I build the cobra). If I need to drive on the street more, I will swap out the clutch set-up. I have heard the carbon discs (for Rally racing) are better with regard to street manners?

I will be in touch regarding the motor. I did not want to waste your time until I am ready to commit.
