I have a 90 302 small block in good condition, only 70 k miles. Can either invest in set of heads and roller rockers or stroker kit. With cost of converting EFI to carb low on funds. I know I could probably upgrade heads later fairly easy. What's the best route?

In my opinion, depending on your budget I would push for the stroker kit (347) preferably the forged setup incase you later want power adders. This would get your lower assembly set for any future enhancements. Heads and upper assembly are easy fixes.

Good Luck!

The stroker with stock heads will be a dissapointment as it will be strangled by the flow of the heads. Adding heads to the stock 302 will put a big smile on your face. If you can't afford to do both do the heads first.

Thanks guys. Right now I'm leaning toward a set of GT40's, some roller rockers and maybe a cam. Any advice on a cam. My car will basicly street use.

The GT40's are nice but for a couple hundred more you can get into a much nicer head like the Edelbrocks or TFS TW. Of course if you are on a tight budget go with the GT40's. On a budget I would select the TFS Stage 1 cam or if not so tight on $$ then one of the Comp XE range. The XE264HR will work well. With the roller rockers you will need to budget another $100 or so for a set of hardened push rods.

I too would get the best heads I could afford right now or with short term savings. I'd se;ct them with stroker in mind. Install them in a weekend and go have fun. Down the road when you have the money and time to pull the motor you already have your heads.
