Gentlemen, I posted photos of my block with the COBRA stamping. They are included in the original post.

I'm hoping that the stamping was done by a top secret Ford development team and that it is the only one on the planet and it is worth around 10 million dollars. If that doesn't work out though, I'm still curious as to how and why it was placed there. I'm wondering if it is simply a matter of someone punching the wrong stamping button as the engine rolled down the assembly line.

I tend to agree with the person that said it was done by MVD in the state where it was registered. The style a size of the lettering is not what you would find done by the factory.
Ford, since the 60's really doesn't put experimantal or developement engines in production cars at all.

if you look close there is an F5 stamped before the cobra. Maybe as in factory five cobra. Maybe done by the dmv or by a machine shop for identification reasons?
