Hi everybody. I have an '89 5.0 from a Mustang donor, and am converting to mechanical fuel pump. I notice the fuel pump eccentric on the front of the cam is different that what I'm used to. This one looks like a third of a circle. It looks like more of an oil slinger than an eccentric, (though I know that isn't what it is). Is it OK to use with a mechanical fuel pump, or is it maybe just a balance of some sort? I'm only looking at getting a few years out of this engine while I save up for a better angine, but I certainly don't want to get stuck someday due to a worn out eccentric that was never meant to be an eccentric. Thanks to all!!!

There is a 2 piece eccentric which I believe takes an older style timing chain or a 1 piece eccentric which is used on the newer style timing chain. I would talk to Forte's about which timing chain and eccentric to use. I know he has some 2 piece eccentrics in stock as I got one from him.
