On Friday we dynoed one of our engines. Guess the size. I will tell you it is in a mid-engine car, runs on pump gas, and the power numbers were measured at the rear wheels. I will post the dyno sheet when ether someone guesses or we run out of guesses.

HP 384.8 @ 6200 rpm's
Torque 448.7 @ 6200 rpm's

One more thing, A mustang dyno was used.

Is that the peak HP and torque figure, i.e., for each?

I'll guess first. Looks to be making a fair deal more torque than hp so I say it has to have a few CI to make that much torque. I am making the assumtion that it is NA. 392 CI

Joe, No. We did run it up to 7000 and it was making power all the way there. We set the rev limit at 6600.

Aw that's not fair I thought those were peaks, as odd as that combination of numbers peaking together seemed. See what happens when I assume things. What is that old saying.

Gordon, Is there a typo in those numbers? HP=T*RPM/5250...............The math doesn't add up. Didn't think of that until now.

This question is trick as to make a guess I would need peak numbers. Without them, well.....OK here goes, a 351W (non stroker) with one of those small journal cranks, BIG port and valve heads, Vic junior, BIG roller cam, NA not blown, high compression like 12 to 1. Or, the same combo in a 306.

We rearly get a cross the numbers on a wheel dyno. I can tell you they cross beyond the mechanical limits of the engine.

I don't understand. Surely Lou is correct. TQ and HP are mathematically related by the equation he stated. TQ = HP at 5250 rpm. Below 5250 TQ is always greater than HP and above 5250rpm HP is always greater than TQ.

He must mean HP=448.7 Torque=384.8 @6200rpm. The numbers come out pretty close then. If that's the case, this is my motor he's talking about.....rwhp of course.

I did have the hp and torque backwards, sorry, typo on me.
Stacy is correct, it is one of our stage 3 306 engines with a new cam profile we came up with.

That's damn impressive for a NA 306 at the flywheel, but at the wheels, WOW ! Nice job Gordon.

Joe, sorry ahh no.
I was really impressed with the engine also. I tried a couple of new things in this engine and they worked better than I ever expected. It has 10-1 compression and was dynoed on pump premium. It was also in a mid-engine car so the drivetrain lose was less than 10% I figure.
At 7000 rpm's it did make 20hp more and was still climbing but I designed the engine to run to 6600. It also had a table top torque curve from 4500 on up.
