Need advice on my selection of parts for my engine. Let me give you a little personal history first. Back in the early 80’s I drove a 67 Mustang fastback with a 289 +.030 over sporting 351 Windsor heads the valves in the heads were .184 intakes and .156 exhausts (D00E castings). The heads were ported both intake and exhaust. About the same time I joined the Marines. I parked that car at my parents it sat idle except when I came home on leave. In 88 I found a 5.0 Liter HO roller cam motor with speed density feedback and bought it. The idea was to put all the fuel management equipment on it and modernize the mustang. A few years later I sold the body and kept the 289. Fast forward to today. Now I am out of the Marines and still have both motors. So much has changed in respect to high performance from then to now. My ambition now is to build a FFR Cobra on the cheap and put the 5.0 Liter in it with the 351 Windsor heads (because I own them and they have almost no miles on them) and EFI. My goal is a very drivable and reliable engine. I want to get it drivable first and then upgrade things as time goes on. My goal is around 300HP using the 5.0Liter block, 351 Windsor heads. From what I have learned so far from reading posts here how does this combination sound? Most parts listed are because I already own them.
