427 side-oiler NIB questions.

Hello,
So I've never posted on here. However I came here many years ago and would like to thank you all for the support you showed my aunt jill. My uncle (Intake Gasket)(http://www.ffcars.com/forums/members...ke-gasket.html) (Robert Feddersen) loved this forum and showed me it many years ago, which brings me to why I am posting today...
I'm not sure this is the correct area, but I recently received a couple motors from my grandfather when he passed away, The motors are a 427 side oiler and a 428. We're looking to sell the sideoiler once we locate all the parts. It's never been used and most of the parts are still in the original packaging outside of I believe the block and the crank shaft (which has been stored upright). I was wondering:
  1. What's an approximate value for such an engine would be in it's condition of never being used and most of the parts still sealed in box..... I searched the internet high and low and could not find any similar listings. Anyone have an idea?
  2. Once I get all the parts together where would be the best place to sell it? I am looking to sell it in order to get money to fix up a couple of the other cars he restored as well as do some renovations on the house. I probably will not be ready to sell it for a month or 2.
  3. anyone know of a site where I can find a listing of all the components that would make the 427 sideoiler complete?
  4. what's an approximate value for a 428 and a 3-2 carburetor?

Thanks!

I'd say the best person to talk to about the value of the parts would be Mr. Forte. He owns a parts store and is on the forum often. Forte's also builds engines, so that would be a smart choice for consultation. The number is (508) 875-0016. From there I'm sure he would have some good recommendations on how to sell it. As for a forum, here, Club Cobra or the Ford FE Engine Forum would be good places. Outside of that, selling the parts individually on eBay might not be a bad idea. If you go that route, use only PayPal for payment. Not everyone likes PayPal, but I've never had a problem using it on eBay. It's possible you might find a an engine builder who would buy the parts off you, however I doubt that will happen. People like to be able to trace parts back to the supplier in case anything goes wrong with the part(s) they bought.

Didn't you post this on Club Cobra (we are still waiting for the part numbers off the boxes/parts), but without the other parts listed?

Everything is sealed in boxes as far as I know except for the crank shaft which was opened and stored in the garage covered and upright. I have never seen an unused/unopened 427 side oiler for sale online and wondered #1 what something like this would be worth in today's economy in that condition and #2, Where's the best place to find people who're interested in purchasing it? and #3. Does anyone know where I can find an inventory list with part numbers etc to organize the boxes all together?
Thanks,
Ian
Values depend on condition, used, new in the box (how they were stored will be a factor), rusted, etc. Until you post part numbers and pictures, a value cannot be set on anything except as raw scrap value for weight.

Hi inc4,
Where do you live? These are new and never used? Any casting numbers?
These could be very valuable but condition is everything.
I have 2/ 427 side oilers from a boat and they are junk from excessive rusting.
Any questions and I'll do my best to market them if you want.

Thanks mike and all I found some of the boxes.... Unfortunately I don't have all the info. All I know is what I've found so far... I have a 427 block that has a silver tag that reads d3ae6010 aa(or it could be 44... I can't tell) and under that it says c8az G 427 HP... So far I have found the connecting rod assembly's (x8), crank shaft, cam shaft, oil pan baffle s2, valve cover, oil pump assembly.... I am still looking for the other parts such as pistons etc but Im not sure what else I should be looking for? Literally he's got engine parts everywhere.... I am located in Ventura does anyone have any contacts in this area to tell me what I have? I know i have another 427 i know the other 427 is out of a ford fairlane galaxie 500 but im having a hard time finding casting numbers on it...and possibly a 428 or 390 not sure what it is... On the latter one of the numbers on it says 352 and I think it says c5ae but it's not easy to read... Any help would be Appreciated. Thanks!
