chp vin question

Gentlemen,

I am finally ready to have my VIN assigned and wanted to know where the serial number is on my block. If I give this to the CHP will this suffice? I have a 429 Ford that supposedly came out of a 1970 Torino. I want to make sure I have everything in order for the CHP. When I bought the car it came with the motor and rear end/axels. (Car came with many parts that I dont have receipts for) Any help? Thank you!

P.S. I did buy the trans new so have the info on that...

The CHP is going to want to see a receipt for the engine.

Just take your receipt for the car plus engine and rear end with you. He will check the block to see if the number has been reported stolen. As long as you have some sort of documentation and the serial numbers check out, you should be ok.

All I have is the bill of sale which states pratically nothing... oh oh hope he is not a prick!!!!!! Time to pray!

Had this car been registered in another State previously? If not, then did you get an MSO from the guy that sold it to you? Or was it just pieced together from various sources?

If never registered before, the chp will first run the serial numbers from some of the larger parts of your car to see if any were reported stolen. If clean, then he will affix a California vin number and send you on your way.

No the car was has not been reg before. I am taking the FFR MSO, bill of sale and trans paperwork. Hope this will suffice...
