help me! please!

I have a 1986 F250 extra cab longbed pickup. It has the 460 cu in motor and was running like a raped ape last year when I bought it.

I replaced wires, plugs, cap, rotor, spark plugs etc. and rebuilt the stock california emissions carb after finding several fuel leaks and then tuned it according to the factory emissions procedure.

I went from 5.2 mpg to 10.6 overnight and went to get it smoged and it passed with flying colors except for the fact that the balancer had spun and the tech could not read the correct timing marks.

I parked it for a few months and when I finally got around to changing out the balancer and when I went to start it, it started right up and ran for about a minute and then died like it ran out of fuel.

I have since rebuilt the carb again twice, each time cleaning the bejeesus out of it to make sure that it was clean and it does the same thing, starts and idles fine and then dies after about 30 secs.

I have pulled the fuel line off and check to make sure that gas is flowing to the carb. I added fresh gas and stabilizer and have no problems starting the truck, only problem is it wont stay running.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I am reallyfrustrated at this point as I had to purchase a used 2006 trailblazer to the tune of $15,000.00 after my ranger motor died and did not have this truck as a backup.

Go back to the simple stuff: Do you have spark? It could be something besides fuel. Throw a timming light on it and see if you loose spark. Check the wiring in case a critter chewed on something. Pull the fuel filter and see what's in it. Hope this helps and keep us posted.

It's probably the fuel pump. Put a pressure gauge on it and see what you get.
