FE stroker: single plane or dual plane intake

OK, I'm building (or having it built) a new FE, since I blew up my current one on a weekend track day at a road course.

With the cu. in. of a stroked FE in a light weight roadster, I'm considering using a single plane intake on this one instead of a dual plane. I know you lose some low RPM torque with a single plane, but in our light cars and abundance of FE torque, I don't know that I'd miss at little torque at lower RPM's.

I've got the Edel Perf RPM dual plane 7105 and I've got a brand new (but discontinued) Weiand 7282 single plane.

I'll wind up in the mid-400's on cu. in's., depending on bore & stroke.

Thougths?

Thanks in advance.
Joe

There was a discussion about this some time ago on the Ford FE forum. If I recall up to 4000 RPM or so, the consensus of opinion was that you were giving up 50 ft/lb's of torque.

If you want real numbers, this is the book to get:
The Great FE Intake Comparo

Id stay with the dual plane unless your going to be using it for strictly drag racing.
Keep rpm's low, run taller gears and take advantage of the low end torque. Makes for a longer lasting engine.. Always been my theory anyway...

+1

Love to let it drop down to a low rpm and hear it lope along knowing i have plenty of torque/response waiting if i need it. Plus i cant imagine my gas mileage if i didn't cruise at 1500 rpm. I already only get 12.

Tunnel Wedge

Jay Brown's FE Intake comparison book rates the 2x4 Tunnel Wedge as among the best.

Do a search for his book and invest the money correctly based on your intended application.
