Steve,

That's the same tank I have. It works fine. I thought about your question on the mounts. Do you know if thr FFR frame mounts are different for the big block and small block? For some reason I thought some were different.

fe tank

Hi, some of those tanks need to be modified, the one on my contemporary had almost an inch removed from the neck. i would do a dry run before adding coolant

yes the mounts are different for the small block and big block, on the small block i used energy suspension poly mustang motor mounts. i purchased this expansion tank at the thompson speedway flea market a few years back it looked almost new.
what height should the tank be at using the dis cap as a reference?

This should help:

This was mine with a straight edge along the frame. It was concerned but it fits just fine.

Sorry, I wasn't very clear. For some reason I thought the frame itself was little different when comparing a big block to a samll block, but I am not sure. Hopefully someone can answer that.

That is the same one I am using too. Make sure to pressure test it. I am on my third one including two new ones and just fixed it again.

on the ffr the frames are all the same so is the engine mounts, what is different is the actual mounts that mount to the engine.

Not surprised. I now use a 7lb cap with a canton overflow can.

I found a site that sells the early and late ones, Pat Wilson's Thunderbird Parts.
they show them for 199.00 each.

convincor, do you know of anybody that would have a set of the ffr motor mounts?
i have mike forte's mounts they dont work, ffr is out of stock and the guy that makes them is on vacation i am at a standstill.

I bought two from Bird Nest. Both leaked. They were good about replacing the first one. The next time I fixed it myself so I could silver solder it. I saw a nice aluminum one on a superformance, but he said it was $500. The shop I use at work says they disassemble them, sand blast and reassemble your part.NE Radiator Southbridge, Ma. 508-765-5583 .A lot of these are made in china now.

I used one off of a 63 Galaxie 390. It fits just fine w/o any mods.
