Brake booster help

I am in need of a brake booster for my MKIII that is small enough that I can install it without taking the body off, or pulling the engine. I got one from Summit today, pulled my master cyl, and guess what, it is toooooo big to get in the hole between the engine and the footbox. What can I do??? I need a smaller booster. Any ideas???

If you removed your fender splash shield, would it fit that way?.

I think the smallest diameter booster available is 7". How big is the one you got from Summit? The stock 88-93 Ford booster is a 7" diameter but it is a dual diaphram which is an inch or so longer than a single diaphram.

I got one that is 7", and am sending the 8" one back. It is a big pile of worms to install it. I had to cut the frame, pull the steering rod out, and then I have to file out the hole where the center of the booster goes through the footbox. I have about 8 hours in it so far, and I really don't know when I will have it done. However, I really need power brakes, so I'm sure it will be worth it. Anybody have any other ideas??? The black 1/8" plate behind the pedal assembly is really hard to grind, file , or make larger somehow. Too bad I never thought of this when I was building it.
