Driver side foot box mods

After several months of inactivity due to shoulder surgery, I have resumed work. Although I have searched all sections of the forum, I haven't been able to find anything on modifying the driver side foot box on the engine side panel. I've installed a DOHC with 4-into-4 headers. Has anyone found a way to open this up?

My EEEs just don't fit between the sheetmetal and brake pedal.

Making room for feet.

There is 1 post in this thread for the drivers engine panel expansion. Also, I have to wear driving shoes - size 13 just don't fit well with regular shoes.

You didn't tell us whether you're working with a Mk3 or Mk4. I've done engine side footbox mods to both although they are equipped with Windsors. Armed with a tape measure and these ideas maybe you can make similar changes for your 4.6 car.

Like many other Mk3 owners I performed the well documented dv/dt "Rod Mod" on the right side, reversing the vertical bend then triangulating it both directions to the lower front and rear corners.

The Mk4 panel is shaped differently so I took a different approach by cutting a triangle out of it and bening up "pyramid" to provide some extra room around the throttle pedal.

Before, with the flat panel:

And after:

Hope that helps,
Jeff

I have a narrowed mod motor foot box with Wilwood pedals. After 2 years of struggling, I cut about 3/8" off the right side of the brake pedal pad. I can wear any shoe now without interference.

I don’t have a lot of time to search. I hope this can get you started.

Footbox mod

I have the Complete Mk 3.1 kit (Wilwood pedal box) and DOHC with 4-into-4 headers. Engine is in plumbed and running, brake pedal has been trimmed as much as possible, RT go pedal.

Just eyeballin' it there is about 3/4-inch between the headers and the footbox sheetmetal near the throttle pedal.
