How many Coyote owners need Catalytic covnerters?

The email I got from Jesper stated they are definitely making a J-pipe, but not certain they'll make cats. I swore that Dave Smith stated they would be making cats since the motor is set up to be emissions compliant. The BBK header option Factory Five offers dumps the exhaust darn near on top of the frame rail. This makes it very difficult to customize some cats for the motor since you can't bend a radius tight enough to clear the frame. If you need cats, please call FFR and tell them you need cats. Otherwise, us emissions compliant states are screwed. Thanks.

I have told my tech (Rick Masters) that I will need cats. He states j-pipes are coming but they will NOT HAVE CATS! Bad news as I will need these and I have no idea how to get!!

Wouldn't it just be a matter of purchasing aftermarket high flow cats cutting a section out of the J pipe and welding them in?

It would be that easy. Except that the headers FFR got BBK to make are extremely close to the frame rail. To work with that close proximity, the FFR j-pipes will be a round flange to a rectangular (really wide and flat) box. Can't weld a round cat in to wide rectangular opening.

Looks like the most achievable solution is to use the 4.6 2 valve shorty header with the (engine) flange change. Then the standard 4.6 cat would work.

Nope. Already tried to use 2V shorty headers. When you flip them, the passenger side hits the block, and the drivers side hits the alternator.

From what I understand they designed the Coyote header to be the same part number for both the Roadster and 33. Looks like the design compromises required to make that happen may a limiting factor.

There is always the custom header route. Stainless Steel Exhaust was looking for a guinea pig to do the Roadster / Coyote long tube setup at a steep discount. I bet they would also be interested in doing a shortie at a discount to add to their product line as well....
