Coyote Headers now available...

Factory Five shorty headers for the Coyote are now available. Part #33920 for $599. J-pipes/cats to connect headers to sidepipes are still in the works. Ordered my set today.

Hmmm I wonder if they would let me exchange my never used 2v headers for these. I bought my complete kit last year when the only option was to modify 2v headers to fit.

When installed these point the collector straight down... Is that right? Seems awfully tight with frame rail!

Judging from the pictures (and a complete lack of hands on experience yet with the Coyote and headers) they look like the headers sweep forward a lot further than they need to. It looks like they "almost" fit enough to not have to custom engineer something. Granted on the DS it does look closer to the footbox than the passenger side, but they still look like they're avoiding something that isn't in the roadster. Do ASTGLENN's flanges look more like they belong in there? Where can I see these? Search results aren't helping much

geeez how hard would it have been to angle the flange out rather than straight down....Unless I'm missing something that seems just plain lazy

From what I understand they designed the Coyote header to be the same part number for both the Roadster and 33. Looks like the design compromises required to make that happen may have influenced a less than optimal configuration on the Roadster.

You weld the flanges on the 4.6L header to adapt it to the Coyote block. They look much better because you're using a 4 in to 4 header instead of these shorty headers.

Thanks for posting pics of the new headers. I'm picking up my kit in September (coyote build) and this jpipe and header combo has got me concerned. I want to make sure I'm going to be happy with the results. Would there really be much diff between this and longtubes? The coyote is going to give me more power than necessary, would it be really worth it to have someone weld up new flanges on the 4.6 longtubes?

We have been watching the threads on the Coyote header dilemma and thought there may be some interest in another possible option. Typically we would just send out one of our header mockup kits and have the customer configure the design and we would build from there. That combination in the roadster is quite a tight installation. Well, the header gods were looking down on us on this project when we found a customer, through another forum member, that was only a few miles from our shop. We configured a special mockup just for his car and hand fit a set of headers right there at his location. Take a look at the images and let me know what you think.

Shorty Headers vs Others

I'm almost ready to install the Coyote in my Mark IV and have been planning to use the FF shorty headers that came with my kit. I'm a newbie as far as exhaust systems goes, and am wondering what is problem about using these headers -- fit? quality? too restrictive? what?

If you don't have to use cats, then the problem is:

-Poor design. FF tried to make a 1 size fits all solution and neither works well.
-The J-pipes are a tight radius, restrictive design.
-They are a royal PITA to install. Bolts are nearly impossible to reach.
-The don't exactly fit. The drivers side rubs the foot box.
-Headers + J-pipes are expensive and not much cheaper than a true 4 to 4 header solution while being much more restrictive.

Just a quick reply as these pictures from Chris (Stainless Headers) are off of my car. If anyone has any questions about these, please let me know. They did an amazing job, the headers are a work of art, and they eliminate all the issues for the ones supplied by Factory Five. I could not be happier!

Additionally,Chris and his team are first rate all the way. They have been great to work with, met all the timelines they said they would, and the quality of the work is better than I could have expected.

Seriously, if you have the Coyote and need headers... you need to talk to Stainless Headers.
