Mine went on pretty easy. Below are links to topics about the two mods builders are doing. One is installing studs and the other is to allow the dip stick to go down into the pan without interference.
Also watch your pickup tube clearance to the bottom of the pan. Paul Westerbeck has previously posted the spec. You'll sleep better knowing the Champ pan is on.
I hope the moderators include the Champ pan and the mod for the dipstick tube in the FAQ section for 4.6 builders along with the driver side head cooling mod at some point in time. All builders, new and old alike, need to be made aware of these mods.
Take care,

Not to hijack, but make sure you type something up on the mods you're referring to and submit it to Sergio. They are working on the new FAQ subsection but are relying on us to help them get it right.

I just put my Champ oil pan on about 3-4 weeks ago, SOHC 4.6L as well. No big issues. Note: I did NOT do any mods to the pan. It appeared to clear everything as designed. The dip stick worked fine as well as everything else. Some of the side bolts are difficult to get to (I installed the pan on finished car). Remove the starter and get you some shorty rachet wrenchs and it can be done. For the rear bolts, I just used a long entension on my 3/8" rachet.
I like where they put the oil temp sender bung and the drain plug. Both positioned quite well. Very nice oil pan!!! My held about 10 qts w/ filter change.
RandalW,
A couple of thoughts on the dip stick, 1. Maybe Champ has altered their pan’s windage tray design based upon the feedback from Paul Westerbeck modifying the pan for his DOHC. 2. Perhaps this is a DOHC issue not a SOHC issue.
rednour1,
I see in your signature that you are using a SOHC. The mod I was referring to has been discussed in other forums and it pertains to the DOHC. Below is an excerpt from Even Flow Cooling’s web site. Each individual can research this mod and determine if they believe it is necessary for their application. I am not an engineer. As for me, it seems like a small price to pay for insurance. And I am not associated with any vendor selling a kit for this mod.
The following two paragraphs are from Even Flow Cooling’s web site.
This newly designed modification was initially designed around the 4.6 DOHC supercharged application for 2003-2004 Mustang Cobras. This modification is applicable to other higher horsepower 4.6 DOHC engine applications such as those found in 2003-2004 Mach 1s, Marauders, 1999-2001 Cobras, and other chassis combinations that have been fitted with a 4.6 DOHC power plant.
A common issue that has generated significant interest and discussion has been the lack of coolant flow at the rear section of the drivers side cylinder head on Mustang applications (Other chassis applications with a 4.6 DOHC engine may also suffer this potential issue on the passenger head also). From 2002 through the present date, Ford has revised the part number for the driver?s side head 3 times for the supercharged Cobras. Many owners and tuners believe that cooling issues, combined with inadequate spark plug threads in the earlier head design, contributed to problems such as bad valve guides, audible ticking noises from the driver?s side head, spark plugs getting blown out of the cylinder heads, pistons being overheated, and cylinder bore scoring, sometimes requiring engine replacement. High boost pressures, sustained high-speed runs, and bad tunes contribute substantially to these potential problems.
If you google “4.6 driver side head cooling” you will find more information on this topic.
Domino,
Will do.
Take care,
