Sorry guys, the car was too nice to pass up. My cobra build will ave to wait a while, I will continue to follow your builds, I learned a great deal here and will hopefully be able to use the info someday...Best of luck to all of you
Feen,
Doesn't mean that we still can't be friends I've always wanted to ask a vette owner this: I notice a lot of vette owners drive around with their parking lights on. Is there some secret vette owners club that everyone agreed to do that?

The c-5 is great for long hauls. Air Conditioner and Bose stereo....but I can't wait to get the Cobra done. The parts used to build the Cobra are alot cheaper to replace than C-5 parts HA! Autocrossing with the Cobra should be a riot!! I fell for the C-5 but the Cobra build is progessing. Mike

C-5 parking lights come on with the ignition. Sort of a daytime running light. I am in the market for another C-5 after my wife totaled ours. going to go for a ragtop this time i think. I am looking for a very specific car this time. Dark red with tan top and interior. Must also be Auotmatic.

I just asked my wife the otherday if she would be interested in a late model vette to drive for a couple years and got the, that might be nice. SWEET IM ALMOST THERE!!!
Weendoggy,
How could you sell the '81? I owned an '80 and still miss it sometimes. It was nothing in comparison to the Cobra as far as performance, but I just had a good time with it.
My father has an '00 C5 w/ an automatic. Great car! I'm sure its not on par quickness wise with a FFR Cobra but I wouldn't want to race it around California Speedway. It is also a dream on a long drive. They are really sophisticated compared to the FFR Cobra. That said, I'd race just about any Corvette zero to 60.
Weendoggy-Where is "Aptos, CA"?

A friend of mine let me drive his Z06. That car made me laugh it loud, it was so much fun. It's been a long time since a car did that for me.

I bought the c-5 first. '01 6 speed z51, a blast to autocross on road coarse with. New rules required mods, didn't want to make - enter FFR. Can't wait to finish it and get it on the track next year. Will keep vette, it's still a great car. IMHO.

Anyone been around the C6? it is awsome!!!! I work at Karl Chev in Ankeny Iowa and we sell a ton of vetts. We have a few c6's and they are way cool. but i still can't wait to give the owner a run at the stop light in my roadster when complete.
Steve,
Selling the '81 was tough. It was our's from day one. However, things do change. As nice a car as it is, the '81 had it's drawbacks as well. The Z06 is just millenium's (no pun Al) ahead of the '81 and is a better trip car too. Jeanne was having problems in the passenger seat for comfort on long drives so that was an important step in any car we get.
I do miss it, but it's a car and that's how I look at them. Yeah, they're nice, but they're a car.

Feen if you come here and post "Bought A C-5" and don't already own a Cobra... Hummm.... Make me wonder. I considered buying a C-5 this year ('99 or newer). Insurance for the C-5 about a hunrdred a month, taxes 'bout a hundred a month. Comes to 'bout $2400.00 per year where I live not including the downward price every year. I won't tell you my FFR tax and insurance is less than $300.00 a whole year (yes, Tax and Insurance).
I've always wanted a Mini Cooper and found a light totaled (2003 "S") car while looking for a wrecked C-5. For me the Mini makes better sense than the C-5.
I also have two Vette's, a 1965 375 HP fuelie I bought new 4 speed 4:ll's, and a 2002 Z06 we bought new in 02 and we bought a FF kit in l998, carbon fiber body and I dearly love all three.
