I was all ready to install the brake system today. I ordered earl's braided set and got preflared lines from napa using the great chart in the brakes FAQ (thanks whoever did that). my problem though is the rear set up. my lines that are labeled rear are very short. did i get sent the wrong set or is there a way to use these. if anyone has pictures of the front and rear of these installed that would really help.

thanks

adam

hey adam,

theres no big secret with the brake line lengths- they need to be long enough to allow full travel and short enough not to get in the way of anything. if yours are obviously too short, you got the wrong ones. the placement of the fitting from the hard line plays a role of course.

hth,

james

Adam,

I believe you're referring to the table I made up (some of it was others work, I just gathered the information and put it together in a chart and I added the IRS information w/ and w/o braded brake lines)

I also used earl's brake lines. You can see my brake pics here

My earl's brake kit also had fairly short rear brake lines. I mounted them to the peice that the Quad Shock mounts to as you can see in this picture.

In this picture you can see that the flex line still has some slack with the car on blocks (i.e. it's not to short if you mount it in the right location)

I hope this helps.

Adam,

You're right most have longer rear lines. I think they may have gotten rear lines specifically for an IRS seperately as to my knowledge Earl's Mustang kit's had either no rear lines or the short lines.

I could have bought the longer lines but I figured that it was only a matter of figuring out where to mount them, or making a mount for them.
