So Rick and MrMustang, your opinion is that it's not true?

Craig,

I'm no Mustang expert and "Please be real." expresses my hope that it is. If it's not, it's a pretty audacious attempt at fakery and makes those guys that build fake SS Chevys, GTOs and Hemi Cudas look like amateurs. I'm awaiting the opinion of the experts and sincerely hope there is a definite conclusion and we're not left with a "maybe it is, maybe it isn't" outcome where we'll never know for sure. With all the money on the table here, someone will figure it out.

Just saw a report on Fox News that Marti authenticated the car.

Crazy that it's been found after all these years.

"Expert" confirms the VIN, but not the rest of the car

Bill, in that year Mustang, would the vin be stamped anywhere, or is it just a rivet on plate? The article seems to say there are other locations but nothing specific and I have no idea what that piece of metal is supposed to show us.

The article said that he also confirmed the date stamps of the remaining original sheetmetal and it was in the right time frame.

From someone who is in the know, 10-15% of the car may be from the original car, that includes both front fender apron tops where the VIN would be stamped, along with the top of the dash and perhaps part of the drivers door. The rest, sorry, does not come compute.

WOW, that is a real small %. AT what point is a car like this considered to not be a real deal?

When some grey-haired old guy wearing a Steve McQueen imitation blue turtleneck and brown tweed jacket isn't willing to pay stupid money at Barrett-Jackson for it.
