I'm not sure that I would listen to some local official when it comes to matters of life or death. I ignore them on most things anyway.

Now that the storm is past, the blame game begins.

It's too bad that NJ didn't know there was a storm coming. I mean there was no mention of it that I saw that showed any computer model tracks of where it was going to hit since last week or anything like that. Damned news channels can't get anything straight.

It wasn't announced on "Jersey Shore".

I thought in one of the other posts it was decided he was at Haliburton wrenching on the hurricane machine.

I know some people at the Dallas office, I will ask if they saw him.

Just saw Christie on the news praising the president for the good job he's evidently done helping out NJ. You have to give Christie a lot of credit, he could have played politics here but he did the right thing. It is refreshing to see a politician who is not only honest and blunt, but doesn't play politics either. As a side note that retard from Atlantic City needs to be booted out of office.

From what all I've seen, even before Sandy, I like Christie. Unfortunately I think he's reached as high as he will be able to. People don't like hearing the truth and he doesn't sugar coat anything. It was a classy move for him to put politics second and focus on the recovery and giving credit where it's due. During a press conference he looked visibly worn out.

For the retard- I wouldn't bet on his re-election if he will even be able to complete his term. He needs to go.

2FAST, This is not politics. this is a man telling it like it is, he just happens to be the Governor of N.J.. Try thinking of the speech that was put up by the OP as Ron White doing his "stand up" act and saying,We will not fix stupid tonight. Ultimately we are all responsible for our own safety and gov. Christie had to remind people that ignored the warnings of that. Then later he gave a heart felt thanks to the people that helped. IMHO.

maybe there is toooo many gamblers in Atlantic city. sorry for their loss but maybe the full moon made a dumb choice for the people appointed

we here in the midwest know what damage water can do, add wind to it and mother nature just plain wins.

the directive by the governor should of superceeded the mayor, well thats my opinion i believe they call that Chain of Command

Of course he did. The guy has a lot going for him, but he needs to drop a hundred pounds or so and at least put on the appearance that he's healthy. Physically, he's not in shape for what he's having to do right now...or even close.

Cheers, John

You just beat me to it John. I was just going to say something similar. He seems like a good guy, but he certainly needs to lay off the Pasta and Meatballs.

On a side note, watching the news, I am amazed as to the damage this storm has caused the Jersey coast. I never imagined a storm like this could do so much damage. Unreal.

You can tell AMERICANS, or any other people for that matter, what YOU or a politician would like them to do, but there are MANY that will do what they want. Many will CHOOSE to stay on their property. I am happy to say that in this country, as of now, we are still instilled with that right. I, for one, believe it shouldn't be any other way.

The government should offer suggestions. The people should make up their own minds of what they want to do, and then should take responsibility for their own personal decisions. Simple as that. Stay if they like, but don't tell the government that they didn't warn you strongly enough, or complain that THEIR government didn't save them from THEMSELVES.

Build your house in a swamp and then compalin that flood insurance is too high? How much logical sense does THAT make?

Likewise, build your house in a fire danger area and then complain that it burns down when you did NOTHING to protect it from an obvious danger? How much logical sense does THAT make?

Make your choices, deal with the consequences.

PS- Not that I don't feel aching for those that have lost a lot of their stuff and possibly even their lives, but those were not MY choices, so why should I end up paying for them?

Big fan of our Governor as well. On looking worn down, I think they said this morning he has also been battling the flu this week, and I am guessing he hasnt had much sleep. I know they said today FEMA is on its way with 500,000 gallons of diesel and generators. They will probably be deployed to keep water flowing.

There is a huge issue in NJ right now with the ability to get gas, most stations have no power to pump, a few have generators and lines are 2-4 hours long.

They are saying that our cell phone reception may also get worse before it gets better, with the massive power outtages a number of the towers are running on generators and fuel is running low. Not sure if any of the FEMA fuel will go to that or not.

I am expecting I will be without power at a minimum till Monday.

Scott
