At 16K rounds per second you'd go through a lot of ammo. I wonder how much each one of those special rounds costs?

I wonder if the contractor has thought of selling it like they used to sell razors and razor blades. Give the system away for almost nothing and make it up on the cost of the rounds of ammo.

Imagine how many poor could have been fed with what people on this site have spent on Cobra replicas.......

I'm sure the weapon must be built to tolerate the condition, but what happens when one round doesn't fire? Does the one behind it clear it or does the weapon go boom? I'm sure there are provisions for the situation but I'd love to see what those provisions are.

Update

Please understand i have the out most respect for our military and of every one that have ever or Will ever serve. Because of them we CAN Enjoy freedom that have been denied to others contries.

But I was referencing more on all the developement $ invested, and not towards the people protecting our rights. But i guess you cannot have one without the other.

Cheers

Saw that a couple of years ago but haven't seen or heard anything about it since. So it makes one wonder where did the techonology go or what is being done with it?

I saw it at least 8-10 years ago. The public company that owned that technology was pushing hard to sell it to the government to use in the ME. I don't think it ever panned out. Timing is everything, as I would bet the Obama administration would have bought it...hook...line...and sinker! looks like they may still be trying to get a government contract.

The symbol for it is MTSXY.
