Straightening coiled tubing

Just ran across this on YouTube. Thought it was interesting, so figured I'd post here. The part about straightening does not start until 2:37 of the video...

The best way I have seen is place the tube on a sheet of plywood, place another sheet on top of the tube, then stand on the top sheet and roll it back and forth.

That's really amazing. I recently replaced the brake line that runs front to rear in my truck with one continuous piece and I wish I had seen this first. I wonder if it would work as well for a piece 14' long.

Im thinking it works good on "soft metals". Probabilly not so good for stainless brake line!

Anybody try it?

How about just buying it straight to begin with?

That was cool though.

Very cool! I am sure this method would have trouble on steel line, but it is pretty great to see how well it works on softer metal lines for sure!

as soon as I saw him clamp the end in the vice, I knew what he was going to do. I've done the same with safety wire when making special gizmos for various reasons. I've never had a need to straighten copper tube but, admittedly, might not have thought to. Good find.
