That's paint, not a wrap.

Paint or Wrap?

There are some odd ripples in the hood. I am thinking this is a wrap job.

Wrap

I was talking about the Lamborghini in the original post. This is an example of a wrapped car and you are correct about pic 7. Shows clearly that it is a wrap. I am amazed at how well the wraps look. I am also amazed at how much it costs to do.

Chrome Wrap

For the Lambo I think the cost was Approx. $4000 to chrome wrap and expected to last about 5 years.

I could be either one. This company makes the paint and wraps

Alsa Corp | The World's Most Exotic Paints and Finishes

A friend of mine painted the chrome color. It really looks just like chrome plated steel.

One of the chrome paint companies had a picture of a polished Kirkham on their website bragging about how good their paint looked. They had to remove the pic once they were called out on it.

Good ol DW?

Wasn't one of the first Chrome Wrap jobs done on Waltrip's #17 car? Seems I remember everyone upset with it as them claimed when the sun hit it right, they were blinded.

If you want to do that ,Cosmichrome is the way you want to go. I have been researching it for over a year and so want to start the business but I am chicken.
I have the samples and it is hard as a rock. and last a long time. Its the real deal.
Other companies and tried it but Cosmichrome is the only one that has perfected it... NO yellowing

If you guys think I could get me a good little side business , talk me into it... I want to get into something bad.

I wanted to do that to my motorcycle, but I cannot find anybody that does it. The process looks pretty cool.

I did my Stalker (Lotus 7 replica) with the chrome paint from ALSA.

My painter (a Dupont top level shop) said he'd never do it again. The process was quite involved.

FWIW: My finsh appears more like polished aluminum than chrome but - in retospect - aluminum "works" better than chrome on a Seven.

PS: If I were to do it again (unlikely), I'd go with the wrap.

The chrome vinyl wrap would be an absolute nightmare to wrap on a cobra due to the long curved panels. The production cars like lambos etc have many body seams or places where you hide your vinyl seams. On our Cobras there aren't many places to do that at all. I'd do the painted chrome over the chrome vinyl wrap if I was considering this.

ALSA is the main company that gave it a bad name. They never got it perfected.. but cosmichrome will convert their machines to where they work like they should.
