So much for finishing off the Giants eh? Cards + Carp = Confident in St. Louis today, but, with only 17 innings under his belt this year, count me as nervous......

the Reds got on my bad-side when a major league player damaged a player for life. we won't get into that though.
the real Red color is the Cardinal color

i would rather see Washington in the world series before the Reds or Giants, Dusty Baker needs to get some training on human relations.
but we are playing the Nationals so we will see.

i like the Tigers though, great coach, good team.
i also like the Orioles

go Cardinals

maybe the rally squirrel will make a new appearance

So much for the Reds. At least I won't be able to bitch about Dusty Baker any longer. I believe they are FINALLY going to send him packing.

Too bad about the Nats. They went from one of the worst teams in baseball to the best record in the majors. Best ERA in the majors, more runs scored than any team after the all-star break. First post-season appearance since 1933. It was a disappointing end to a great seasion, but they're a young team and hopefully will get better, and they'll have Strasburg back hopefully playing a full season next year. Great season, exciting series, Cards played well, congratulations.

Wow...I didn't see that the Cards has won until I read this morning's paper. The score was so lopsided last night that I thought they were done for.

My son, who goes to school in St. Louis (WashU), has been wearing his adopted team's (Cards) gear when they've been playing. From now until the end of this series he'll be in full-blown Giants gear.

Good luck (but not too much) to the Cardinals, but.....GO GIANTS!

UPDATE: He texted me that he's going to Game 5 in St. Louis. I told him that he won't be able to go as the Giants will take it in 4....

In enemy colors (in the middle)

In the correct t-shirt (on the right)

What is playoff basball? We haven't seen it in Pgh for 20 years. We'd have a parade if the Pirates finished over .500. I guess I have to root for the tigers and the last winning pirate manager Jim Leyland.

you guys played excellant ball this year.
i would like to see us battle the Tigers again, a NY and St. Louis match would be nostalgic though. but they need to leave the boo-ing fans in NY.

oh wait we still got to play the Giants

Good job Giants!

Glad to see the umpire's blown call (Giants runner being called safe when returning to first base when he was really tagged out) didn't affect the outcome of the game.

I knew what really affected Carpenter. On our local Giants station a caller said that his wife of 23 years, a gypsy, was pissed off at Holliday for his slide so she put a hex on him and the rest of the Cardinals. After that, the caller said that the Cardinals game went downhill.

Remember, this is the Bay Area (and California). There are a lot of nuts out here...

Leo,

Serious question: My son is going to go to Game 5 in St. Louis. How safe is it for him to wear his Giants hat and t-shirt? He'd be with a bunch of St. Louis fans from school, plus he's not the loud, obnoxious type. I've visited St. Louis about 5 times now since he's been out there and the people seem to be what you typically hear about the midwest: polite and somewhat laid back.

We've already had one Giants fan get put into a coma (Brian Stowe) as a result of him wearing Giants gear at a Dodgers game. Obviously, I don't want to repeat that with my son.

He'll be very safe. This is one of the best towns for visiting fans. He may get a bit of ribbing, but as long as he can take that, he'll be fine.

HTH,
Tim

HTH,
Tim
i agree with Tim.
in the stands it becomes competition between 2 teams, thats what baseball should be. always some fun ribbing. he has been in St. louis long enough to know, and also long enough to know where not to be at certain times of the night.

remember our teams have old history. MVM hey you guys lost last night

probably the first time in history that both NL and AL series had rain delay.

Accckk! It's not looking good for our Giants.

Lincecum's pitching tonight and he's been a shadow of his former self this season. He used to be almost a sure thing. This season you don't know who's going to show up on the mound when he pitches--the 2x Cy Young Lincecum or a Little League pitcher. It's also been 50/50 with the hitters too during the post-season.

Thanks for the tips on the St. Louis fans. I thought everything would be OK, but I just wanted confirmation.

Well, that was ugly last night. At least the 49ers won.

Confident pitchers, confident hitters, we have you guys right where we want you....successful and overconfident!

I'm guessing that the Giants will rally and pull one more out tonight, although Zito's pitching, and, like Lincecum, that's been a 50-50 proposition this year. You never know who will show up.

Vogelsong!

This is what post-season baseball is about---2 good teams in a Game 7 to decide who wins the pennant!

Pretty amazing comeback!

With the Cardinals, even if the Giants were up 5-0, you still couldn't relax as they were more than capable of coming back.

On to the Tigers!
