Logo Creation Software

I want to design a logo for my business. Is there free or very affordable software out there that you have used that works well for this purpose and will render in vector graphics? It's hard to wade through all the information on Google, due to all the companies advertising.

Thanks!

Inkscape is nice.
Blender absolutely kicks. It's been used on some amazing projects.

absolute first step forgotten by lots of designers, pencil and paper.

I prefer Adobe, but Inkscape makes a great alternative and its free.

I don't remember if Blender will do vector graphics. but anyways, blender is a great modeling tool, It has a very steep learning curve. but once you get it, you can design, model, animate, film-edit, pretty much make a whole movie from just an idea. or create the latest great game. Here is a link for a great tutorial

My advice is to use a logo creation service or a local artsy.
When I work w "creatives" they transform my idea/intent into something GOOD in no time - and they make it look easy.

It's not just the tools - with a great camera I am still a crappy photographer, but my buddy that is a pro can get published with shots from a brownie. Being artsy is a skill
which I don't possess.
Find a local graphic artist and offer to do their brakes if they will do you logo!!

You can export to SVG.

You aren't kidding about the learning curve, I used blender to create a Valentines Day "Card" for my little lady. Took nearly 6 weeks to get it right.

I really like that rendering you did. Quite a bit nicer than anything I've done with blender.

It is very nice. I use it to create icons.

Careful Joe. Once you've tasted FOSS there's no going back. Soon you'll be using a superior office suite and that will only lead to running a proper operating system
