We changed email to Comcast.net. People that email my wife get intermittent rejections like the one below. Others say they send her mail and she never gets it and the sender does not get a rejection. Any idea what all this means?
That may be but there will be a settings issue that is causing the above. These are standard mail delivery protocols and there is always a reason for errors. I am not a guru so can't say why but I am sure someone here will know

In this case the yahoo mail server cannot make contact with the comcast mail server. This could be for several reasons like the server is actually down, the MX records are fubar, a router is miss-configured etc... Consider getting a gmail account. Very reliable and your email address will not change if you switch to a different ISP.

sounds like comcast's mailserver is overloaded and dropping items out of the queue. Not a settings problem, definitely a "post office" problem. I'd opt for a new gmail or other free account somewhere.
I am surprised in this day and age that people actually use the email account from their ISP!
What happens if you move or change Internet Providers?
I second the Gmail account (or Yahoo, etc.) Even better, for around $10 a year, register a domain name and then use Google Apps to set up gmail for the domain - it's free and you then have a custom email address and you can create up to 50 different email accounts

I'm not a Comcast defender (by any means) but they're the only game in town where I live. We've used their email accounts for years with little/no issues. Processing email is pretty routine.
I use MS Outlook for our home PC, and we use the Comcast app for our iPhones and iPad. Also works fine.
I know it's painful sometimes, but have you called them to report the problem?
Having said that, Gmail also works very well and has been completely reliable for me as well. I use it directly, or if I don't want to check it, set it to forward to my Comcast account.
