Some cats do seem to have a "thing" about cleaning dog ears.
One of our cats used to do a thorough ear cleaning to one of my wife's Rhodesian Ridgebacks (about 90# worth of dog) and would give him good bite on the neck if he didn't hold still.
Sorry, no video i can share .... so perhaps in true Forum tradition .... maybe it didn't happen

Erik, we took in a stray about 8 weeks ago and she could be your dog's twin. Uncanny resemblance. Our cat hasn't quite got that friendly with the dog yet....

That's cool. FYI, we were told and we did some research that Whippets will "eat" cats...while we have never really seen any aggression and they do play rough together...we keep the cat locked in the bedroom when we leave....not sure if yours has any Whippet in it or not.
It's definitely got hound in it, possibly beagle, I didn't think about whippet, she's currently about 25lbs up from just over 20lbs when she found us 7 weeks ago. She was obviously an animal rescue dog at one point as she has the blue tattoo on her belly from being spayed. Also got quite a few scars so has had a hard life up to this point but is one of the sweetest dogs you'll ever meet. By the way the cat rules the house and the dog know it.

We've had a Whippet and now have 2 Greyhounds (as well as 2 Australian Shepherds).
I wouldn't be too worried about your Whippet eating your cat. They're pretty meek animals. Seeing the two of them together in your video only adds to my thought that there wouldn't be any problem.
We don't have any cats, but we don't leave our greyhounds alone with anything small and furry (like friends' dogs) as they were trained at an early age to chase the "rabbit" on the track.
Simon the Siamese and Aggie the retriever. They are the best of buddies, Simon will even tell me when Aggie is ready to come in from doing her business. Simon likes to lick her feet for some unknown reason, or maybe he is related to Dick Morris.

Dogs' sweat glands are concentrated around their foot/paw pads. Your cat is probably licking them for the salt. Ever wonder why most dogs' feet smell like Doritos?
