I work with computers so I recommend iPhones to everyone I know since I have an andriod. Now when people have questions on how to do something with their phone I can just tell people, "I don't know. I use an andriod." Saves me a lot of time.

I do the same thing with MacBooks. I tell them that I probably would not even be able to turn on a MacBook.

All droid owners say their phone is as good as an iPhone but you never hear an iPhone owner say their iPhone is just as good as a droid.
Droids suck hindtit and are trying to catch up and iPhone owners know this.

Almost like a religion, isn't it? My brother worships at the House of Apple, and he, too, exhibits this absolute sense of superiority. But he's never been able to show me anything his Iphone can do that an Android phone couldn't. At least now he'll be able to use 4G. But I guess he'll just have to wait for NFC, touch-to-share, face recognition, etc.
BTW, I think Apple makes fine products; just not my style, and not quite worthy of veneration.

Reason: Clarification
My son has owned an iPhone since the first model, and he loves them. He does admit though, that a little bit of the allure is the little society click with all of his young friends that also own iPhones. At parties, they all sit around like a bunch of nerds playing with their phones. But I've seen Android people do the same thing.
When I Bought my new Droid Razr last fall, my son offered to pay for it if I would buy an iPhone, so I took a real hard look at the 4 in the Verizon store. I was very disappointed with the smaller screen, and very concerned about it being limited to 3G. But the real clincher was when I asked the Verizon sales person if the iPhone had the equivalent of widgets. She looked at me for a moment like I had discovered something she had never thought of, and then said "No, it doesn't." That was the clincher.
It's kind of funny to hear new iPhone 5 owners talk about how much faster their new phone is, and how great the bigger screen is. I've been enjoying screaming fast 4g downloads for over a year now. And the new 4" screen on the iPhone 5 still doesn't measure up to my 4.3" screen.
I will admit that a few times I have thought that, now that the iPhone 5 has almost caught up to some of the super hot Motorola and Samsung phones, I would switch. But honestly, the other issue is I just can't get past the for me personally, I find them ugly ever since the iPhone 4 came out.
But, like mentioned earlier, we all have different tastes.
the iPhone works better than android if you use iTunes and/or if you already have a mac or iPad
a friend told me that with the new iPhone maps, you can't get to the existing 100 million google reviews of restaurants and businesses
iPhone5 went back to aluminum back like the first one instead of glass like the 4. so they say it will scratch DUH of course it will
the "problems" associated with android phones are totally gone with the Samsung Galaxie III. mine has never crashed, never locked up, it's lightning fast.
the iPhone 5 screen is still way to small for me. i love my 4.8" on the Samsung, +.8" diagonal makes a MUCH bigger screen.
iPhone 5 size is based on a smaller one handed-user and the ability to reach the whole screen with thumb
does the iPhone 5 come with navigation that talks to you? that's the reason i returned my iPhone 4 after two days. i absolutely could not believe it. my Sprint pre-smart phone had NAV that talked to you. and pleasantly, may i add.
my Galaxie has smoother edges and it just feels better in my pocket.
i will consider the iPhone6 over the next gen android if:
- the screen is at least 4.8" diagonal
- full integration with Google Voice (that's another thread)
- the phone is fully customizable, down to the font and icons. (fat chance)
- i stop being a nerd (fatter chance)

Eddie,
Check out DoubleTwist and AirTwist app for sinking your ITunes to your Galaxy 3S. It automatically sinks over WiFi when I walk in the door at home. With a 32GB MicroSD installed it works out well.

The short term and long term consequences of the choices we make are typically different and opposite.
I finally switched to a smart phone earlier this year because my old phone was dying. I'm not a coolaid drinker and so I got a droid razor. No issues so far. And I think Eddie hit all the high points.
Maybe the Iphone users are just jealous because we've had 4G LTE for some time now and they are just now getting it with the 5. That and we have had a bigger screen that we can easily see and they are still trying to catch up.
Apple makes a fine product. But to me, the users are like the guys who have to have a BMW or Benz and everything else is just inferior. Of course they won't tell you of all of their problems and the amount of time it spends in the shop.
My daughter is one of the coolaid drinkers. And I've had to return her I pod numerious times for repair/replacement because it locks up and can't be reset. She now has a I phone 4s. We found out the other day that the NAV in my Hyundai is better than her seri on her I phone.

Recieved my 5 yesterday, upgraded from the 4. The new processor is very nice. Everything runs faster and smoother. The 4g is nice, but not a huge difference over the 3g. Then again, i primarily use my phone for a phone. I would say that the processor accounts for most of the increased speed.
Screen size is perfect. A little more space, fits in the palm of you hand, is light and i dont feel like i am holding an ipad to my ear.
I would say that apple basically refined an already really good product. The only down side would be changing of the port. I know adapters are available, but that was one of the apples claim to fame. Sorry to see it gone.
I have not used the turn by turn navigation yet and i dont think i ever will. Thats why basically every car today includes a nav unit. Using a phone for this purpose just seems unlikely.
For $150 (verizon) I would say the phone is a good buy.

for the record, I absolutely, positively, hated my Android Samsung Intercept. it hardly worked, did not sync with the bluetooth in my truck, froze up…I almost threw it out the window. that's when I got an iPhone. but now the Galaxie 3 rocks hard!
it has a feature where if you have the screen time-out set to 30 seconds, it uses the front facing camera and knows you are looking at it and won't shut off the screen. brilliant! (not sure if iPhone has this, just saying)
I can't make heads or tails of all the iPhone lawsuits against Samsung. they said samsung copied too many things: pinch to zoom, bounce at the end of a scroll, so that means the future will be iPhone or super-basic android???

You do realise the iphone HSPA+ network runs the same speed as the LTE network, right? Which technically neither are true 4G, but the carriers marketing games got it labeled that way.
I don't even have a problem with the old style screen so I do not get the constant hype of a bigger screen. When is it going to stop? When people are walking around with phones that are the size of tablets.
And no I do not have a ip5.

I trust a citizen with a gun more than a politician with a pen.
That's one of the funny things about all the hype they try and feed us.
There are only three manufactures of cell equipment in the world, and none of them are here in the US. There is one company manufactures/sells the equipment to the different cariers here in the US. So for one carrier to say their 4G LTE is better/faster than the others is hogwash, they are all the same. Some just have more coverage than others because they bought more equipment. ( had a breifing on this with a project that wanted us to test a stand alone local cell phone system)
I like my Razor. It's easier for me to manuipliate than some of the other droids and I phones I tried. I guess it's just I hear a lot from the "cool aid" drinkers, even here at work.
For me, I'd have stuck with my old flip phone if it was still working. Water/dust/shock proof. And I didn't have to worry about loading a bunch of apps. Besides, when I'm riding the bike, I just throw it in my pocket where I can't hear it ring.

Mike, HSPA+ is a stop gap for true 4G, but using T Mobile for an example.......they just rolled it out to their major metro areas....and, you do need a iphone5 to play on it. before that, T Mobile was basically old 2G edge stuff.
LTE = 4G end of story
Chief, there are more than three vendors for 4G. We play with three just in the company I work for True, we lost a few along the way, with Moto being the one US player, but all were already outside the states.

Hey Chief Petty Oficearrrr, No cool aid drinker here either. Flip phone in full use AND have its replacement on stand by. I'm always getting razzed by my co workers about being in with the dinosaurs.

If it wasn't for the fact that my old one was dying after 6 years, and a replacement cost more than a smart phone, that and the "Admiral" and daughter beating up on me to get a smart phone so I could play games with them while I was doing a lot of traveling, I'd still have one. Sometiems it's just not worth the fight.
