I find it slightly hypocritical and somewhat humorous that NO political discussions can take place by the members, but Pro-Obama ads appear at the top, side and bottom of the page every single time I open the site...before logging in.
Please do not respond with Obama slams. I just noticed a different set of rules.
Google Ads most likely. Not sure how it works, either by tracking sites you've visited or search terms you've used. I checked the "keep me logged in" box so I don't see ads when I first open the site.
Not hypocritical at all, IMO. Political and religious discussions have a nasty way of spiraling out of control. By blocking those discussions altgether, that stops the fighiting and bickering.
Political discussions are allowed in certain areas, like Wayne's Pub. And sometimes they do get a little nasty.
The ads, OTOH, are just that - ads. Politicians spend big bux to get their name out there, and this is one of the ad packages he's putting out. You'll see the same ad packages on a lot of other web sites, too. I don't see any of those ads, so I don't know if Romney has anything similar.
And, no, I'm not an O supporter at all.

ok hypocritical might have been the wrong word choice. might have been a little harsh.
I'm no Obama fan but don't feel the need to vilify him either. Definitely not based on my web activity for OR against.
Their ad campaign staff just must be more into factory five.
I have noticed that also because my work computer cannot stay logged into the site. It does seem like almost everytime it first loads I see the adds. I almost brought this up a few weeks back but decided not to. I do find it humorous though.

I trust a citizen with a gun more than a politician with a pen.
I happened to be on the northeastshooters.com last night (a forum for gun owners), and noticed that it was plastered with the same Obama ads on the top and bottom of every page.
As smart as advertising companies and campaign managers are about targeting their audience, paying to put pro-Obama ads on a pro-gun website seems like an oversight on the part of someone...

You really think Google gives a rip? The O campaign is shot gunning a message, and Google is more than willing to meet their commitment of X number of ads per day, no matter who sees them, for the given $$$.
I believe they would post abortion ads on Catholic websites, cigerette ads on cancer sites, and alcohol ads on AA sites if the price was right.
I don't have any political ads on any of the sites I visit. From what I understand though, the ads are tailored to your web history by the ad company that leases the space (not by ffcars or the forum owner). I don't understand the logic they use to pick the ads you see but my web usage is pretty focused so when I get into something new I usually see an immediate shift in the ads I see to cover my new interest. It's weird and creepy but every once in awhile it's almost useful.

When I search to buy something, I usually come to a decision fairly quickly whether to buy online now, or postpone the purchase and find it locally. Either way, it's funny when Google targets ads at me, when I've already decided to purchase or not to buy online at all.
Clearing your cache may help remove those ads. Or just do a bunch of searches for something you really want to see and those ads should start appearing. Google really couldn't care less where the ads go, as long as they get out there. They are an advertising agency, nothing more really.

I do not think this particular ad is tailored that way. Because if it was, I would never see his ad on any of my computers. If it was, I should only be getting gun and car adds, and maybe the occasional gaming ad.

It's not the site, it's just an open ad space now tailored to the highest bidder by your search and use. If it's really really annoying, try using an incognito window, like offered in Chrome. Lot's of people are opening their browser in that mode to cut down on all the intrusive marketing. It's like the phone company, if you can auto dial numbers for cold calling marketers, we push back with Caller ID and No Call lists.
They have Auto Reject in my cellphone - I've got a dozen numbers blocked. I just don't need my student loans consolidated, considering I have none and never did.
I can't think of a more effective way to sell Memberships!

Why Not? He is the gun salesman of the year 3 years running :-)

Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty.
This is known as "bad luck."

There are no separate set of rules. The ads are pop ups. You need to send a message to Phil the administrator

If you use the Firefox browser, get the "Adblock plus" add on. it will allow you to block adds with just a couple of clicks. I once went to the Northern Tool website and for weeks I was getting Northern Tool adds on just about every site I visited. After installing the browser add on, not a one.
