Anyone been watching "Counting Cars" on the History channel?
Danny Koker from Count's Kustoms has appeared on Hundreds of "Pawn Stars" episodes and who they (the Harrison's) consider to be 'The Best' at determining what a car might be worth.
After watching a few of his own New series/Spin-off, "Counting Cars", it 'appears' he regularly walks around with about $20K in hundred dollar bills!
--damn, it must be nice to be rich and feel that secure --especially in 'Vegas!
I've been watching, and it's a show my wife will watch with me. I'm sure most of it is scripted/staged, but he does appear to put out a good work. I'm with you, who walks around with that kind of dough?
I go to 10-15 cash and carry auctions a year, I regularly take $50k cash sometimes as much as twice that much (I'm a long darn way from rich). So does everyone else at the auction, as far as feeling "secure" there is safety in numbers.

So how do you carry $50K in cash? In an enveloge? Your wallet? Pants Pocket? How thick is a stack of 50 Bennys? Not being sarcastic either, I never had that much cash at once and always wondered if I had a chance to go to an auction how I would carry the money.

Guy that bought my Roadster paid $25k in cash... 50's and 100's. Brought it in a shoe box.
I've only caught a bit here or there of the show, not really a fan of the Count lol, but the premise seems to be he is driving down the street, at random see's an awesome car or bike, flags the person down to talk to them, and then asks if its for sale??? Sure, that sounds reasonable to me. :-)

Ha Ha - I meant 500, not 50. See - I never really did have to carry that much cash.
You would be surprised about how many people do. I work around a bunch of crane operators and they regularly have large sums of cash. They work a tremulous amount overtime every year.
The most younger operators are all broke because they party it up and the old operators can't put it into the bank because their spouses will spend it.
As soon as their spouses start taking it, they start refusing overtime. As they say no reason to work over 40 hours a week, if you can't keep the extra.
Btw, most of them carry it around in a roll with rubber bands. And they call it their roll or knot.
I've been watching the show and find it strange that all the "show" cars just "happen" to show up whereever he goes. That and he always tries to buy them. Guess I'm in the wrong town or people around me don't have the bank roll he does.
I've got a full on custom bike and truck. I get complements wherever I go. But I've never had someoen flag me down just to talk me or to try and buy them. Maybe I should make a run to Vegas and see if the "Count" will "find" me.
They do show some nice rides. But it seems like a set up. "reality" TV.

I just saw the last episode with the sand blasted 71' F100. It seriously looked like total Swiss cheese, then all of the sudden it's painted; no metal work what-so-ever! I suspect it's either a total bondo job or it's totally scripted with completely different truck. Probably the latter...

I enjoy the show and am sure it's mostly scripted. Most shows are... my wife found even "House Hunters" is scripted. (buyers always buy the house with no furniture in it)

I agree on scripted and immature. Like that auction hunters guy, who would believe a dude with a cobra would buy a RC Truck from two strange dudes who found it in a storage shed? What do they think we are dumb!!! (I don't know how to make the devil face lol so I gave an old school grin.)

However, for those that dont know. I run a site dedicated to the history and restoration of those cars. Up to about a year ago, i had over 200 cars in my collection as well as thousands of parts and tooling. So anyone that contacted me to buy something... well i bought it. I had a real problem...
I started selling the stuff off to fund my cobra project

Are these trucks really worth $35k with paint and a crate engine?

Saw it last night. They rebuilt a 68 Stang for the Pawn Shop. The show is like "House Hunters" for guys. Entertainment.
Agree about Horny Mike. I bet he gets his own show next season
And are we not yet sick of the Turtle's! They are back for another season and "getting along" again.
I like "Pickers" but I ask you this; Why do they only buy 2-3 items at each place when there is enough cool stuff to fill a semi? Then they go to the next place and buy the stuff they just passed on from the last place. Scripted. How hot is Danni

Lol, just dug this thread up, bailed on QSL with the busy weekend.
Greg, I am a bit surprised by you, I totally agree with your assessment, but didnt think she was your type. In non-reality shows, Abby from NCIS is hot in that same tatted up punk kinda way.

Danny is a cool guy but It comes across as totally STAGED and Fake
Reasons the show is Fake:
At the beginning of each episode Danny anounces Kevin Mike & Scott as his Team... Apart from Horney Mike the spray painter NONE of them are the guys that restore and fix the cars so who are the team that restore fix the cars up?? surely that is Dannys Real Team!!!?? there must be a lot of them to do all these projetcs the workshop would be very busy. Also, if Scott really was the money man and project manager there's no way he would be out of the shop all the time delivering cars and messing around and being annoying.
Yes Its clearly scripted and fake but like others I also do enjoy watching the show I just wish they would make it about the cars and the actual resto work rather these "iffy" characters (Danny is the only cool one worth watching)
I feel sorry for the guys doing all the work they dont even get shown on the show! plus i hate that they jump from project start to the reveal in 1 minute without showing any of the work at all! and Scott complaining about everything Danny buys all the time just to justify his pointless Character in the show.

Hate the show. It's as real as a bad comic book. I enjoy pawn stars from time to time to see the real old stuff but can't stand it when they buy a car and call in the 'expert' to set up the bid.
I used to drive to a lot of the races hauling a spares trailer behind the dually and for some reason thy would always give me cash. So cross country trips I would leave out with a few thousand dollars. Sucked because I had to acount for it to the penny and try filling up at 3:00 AM with cash. Doesn't always work. So I roll into this gas station in Louisiana one night a little before 2:00. First stop of the trip so I still had the cash in the envelope, but the pace was nice looking, well lit and more importantly empty. Well I'm in the store and people start pouring in from the bar letting out nearby. All I heard was " UHH! A white boy! Oh and he purty too!" I then had this very large, very dark, very drunk woman following me around chatting me up and asking me to buy her cigarettes. Meanwhile I'm trying to discreetly fish exact change out of the $3K in my pocket while telling her I can't buy her another beer. Good times.
I love these shows too much no mater how bad the acting and scripting is. I watched a good 90 minutes of Hardcore Pawn last night. What a train wreck.
Suns of Guns always amazes me and I'm not a gun guy.
Caught a show the other day, Blade Brothers which is pretty cool if your into knives.
I'm just about done with Swamp People though. I mean I love Troy Landry like anything, but I've heard him yell 'Shooooooot' about 1000 times now....
